I don't need/want to see scenes from the movie JUST BEFORE I AM ABOUT TO WATCH IT! OMGTRAMPOLINE!!
![]() Am I the only one who feels this way? I do tend to avoid trailers of films I know I want to watch (but will watch trailers of films I don't know much about) for the same reason, I don't want spoilers ![]() What is wrong with a nice static (maybe some small animations) menu screen and include the trailers on the disc too (I actually like to watch the trailers after I've seen the movie, I'm a strange one, I know). |

I'm sure a static menu would cause more harm to our TV's than your enjoyment of the movie but I get were you're coming from. The more elaborate the better in my case as long as it doesn't spoil the film. So far I've been mostly disappointed with BD menu's they seem to have put the art of it (if there is such a thing) back to the stone-age (or the beginning of the DVD era). There are some decent ones but not many spring to mind. The only ones I can remember are the Twilight ones when they go from character to character but they miles away from the ones that appear on The Simpsons DVD boxsets. The mute button is usually appreciated on the BD ones though!

the worst offender is The Event, from the first disc, if you let the menu play through you get a MAJOR spoiler for the final episode!!! Fortunately, i'd read it had a spoiler and managed to avoid it until after i'd seen the finale

Yeah, Universal does this pretty often! Like with "An American Werewolf In London" they basically show the entire movie in about 30 seconds on the right side of the screen when the Menu comes up! I just press "play" as soon as i can, to avoid... watching the movie in 30 seconds.

I am more annoyed at large menus that appear when you press pause... I pause sometimes to see things in the frame not to have a giant menu obscuring the picture....!

I prefer menus to be static and simple. Most times I'm just wanting to get straight into the movie after sitting though X ads you can't skip or the "Studio is not liable for this big mouth actors opinion...". I get it, just let me get to the f***ing film.
I'll often go to chapter selection instead of play, choosing chapter 1 bypasses pre-film messages you also can't skip... ![]() Last edited by DaveSimonH; 12-17-2011 at 12:52 PM. |

Do you mean the film just starts, or it goes stright to the menu? As some older Warner blus just start playing the movie whereas newer ones go straight to the menu.
