Default looking for a good comedy....

Hello, I'm wondering if the wisdom of the group can point me in the right direction. My wife enjoys comedies, but unfortunately (to me at least) the vast majority of the comedies out there simply are not funny. I understand that what is funny to one man may be boring to another (hence, I feel it's the most difficult category of movie to create well). With that said, the following are some examples to give you my tastes in comedy:

Some programs or films I enjoy:
Keeping up Appearences (PBS series...I think for me the humor comes from identifying with poor Richard )
Mr. Bean (PBS series is best, but films were okay...the humor here comes with the outlandish ideas Bean comes up with for solving his problems)
Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (PBS series...one of the best comedies I've watched...I was less impressed by the movie)

What I don't like is raunchy or coarse humor...I prefer humor might make you think a little bit (e.g., Hitchhiker's) or has at it's root truth (Keeping Up Appearences...I think we all know people a bit like this).

So...any suggestions out there for this...the most elusive of categories for my collection?
Craig

Life of Brian is out on Bluray, in regards to BScratcha's post.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall had its raunchy moments, did it not?

Office Space was one I was gonna recommend, depending on your occupation it might hit closer to home than expected haha. Sitting at my desk right now, I'm excited to watch it again.

Outside of Bluray, you guys would probably enjoy the TV show Arrested Development, which is available on DVD.

Although Superbad is one of my favorites ... he didn't want raunchy . I don't know any non raunchy comedy cuz that's what I LOVE! The other two should be okay!

I agree with someone's post above regarding Young Frankenstein. Most of the comedys that come out today (Superbad, Pineapple Express, Wedding Crashers, Old School, etc) fall into the raunchy category (which I also love).

But Young Frankenstein is the way to go. Brilliant movie with tons of laughing points and not raunchy at all.

I was going to say Office Space as well, and Election is very funny IMO. I have not seen Sarah Marshall, though...

Most "good" comedies are ranchy...

The best ALL TIME comedy is "Dumb & Dumber"
