Close Encounters of The Third Kind - 30th Anniversary Edition (2 Disk Set) available from Amazon.uk for approx. $18 US (includes shipping). This is a region free edition. I purchased this last week from a private seller, new and just received it yesterday. Plays perfectly! Cost now is approx 10 BP (British Pounds) plus 3 BP's for shipping = 13 BP's. Get out your currency converter and you can see this is a great deal compared to the US edition at Amazon.

Are there any difference between this and the US version besides what looks like a better (more standard) case?

I use these guys a lot - this puts at about $15.50 with shipping. They alslo have great prices on dvd-a and sacd disks.

EDIT: After checking the disk info at DVD.CO.UK it is listed as a Region B disk. I bought 2 disks last summer "Almost Famous" listed as Region B, and U-571" erroneously listed as Region 2 (probably meant B) and they both played fine in my Region A PS3. I made the purchase only after a few members here confirmed they would play. Guess it was a mistake in the coding - would like to hear more comments on CLose Encounter UK version before buying.

Yes, I got this and received it with two other BDs. B2G1 sale. Not sure if it's still going on.. but I got Close Encounters, Rambo, and The Patriot for $35.

I can't tell any difference other than the case is a bit thicker. The UK version is region free, but it looks exactly like the US version here in the states except for the UK ratings stickers. This was a great purchase.

U.S. version is 5 minutes longer and has some additional printed materials inside the case I think.

Don't each of the Blus contain all 3 versions of the film? Are you saying that there are 4 versions? Like US gets version A, C, D and UK gets B (which is 5 minutes shorter than A), C, D?

And yes, I've discovered that the US version comes with an extra booklet.

Came out to 49.57 pounds. I have no idea what it converts to in $Cdn dollars
