Looks like an extremely impressive set. Great low list price for 6 movies also.

I'm definitely interested in picking up the original series box sets. I've always been a fan of the films, but never really got into the TV shows beyond syndicated episodes of The Next Generation after school when I was younger. But the idea of being able to go back and watch the original classic show in restored blu-ray form? I'm there! I almost picked them up on DVD, now I'm glad I waited.

As for the movies... I think I'm gonna stick with my DVD copies for now. All those theatrical cuts have me a bit bummed (especially with part 1). And it's all-or-nothing for me when it comes to upgrading the series. We'll see.

I am extremely grateful for the low SRP!!! Makes it much easier for me to do my part to help stimulate the economy…and geek out.

I am interested, but will probably wait until the prices start to fall a bit.

Did I read that right that you can either buy them in a set of 1-6 or 2-4?
I really only want films 2, 4, and 6.

As we noted up front, Paramount will release the 6-film Star Trek: Original Motion Picture Collection on Blu-ray Disc on May 12th (SRP $104.99).

That's $17.50 a movie. Pretty hard to beat that.

Too bad Robert Wise's cut of The Motion Picture isn't a part of the set.

I will definately be purchasing the six film set,but it is very disappointing that the director's edition of TMP isn't included.
It sounds as though TMP,II and VI will probably be released again in the future as director's editions(TMP & II) and extended.(VI)

Really looking forward to the new audio commentaries by Michael and Denise Okuda-their text commentaries are great.

Well, I paid around $50 for both the un-altered Original Season Vol. 1 and Vol. 2, but Vol. 3 is still a bit pricey, so I'll grab that on Blu (it has seamless branching between the original cuts and the *ahem* "new" versions).

Don't know but the first season looked awesome on HD DVD... considering the age..

I own all of the SDVD of the film series, TOS, TNG and the Fan Collectives and have been randomly popping in some of the films and episodes to watch over the past month as I get giddy about looking forward to JJ Abrams' flick. And I have to say the SDVD of TOS look pretty damn good (very colorful, sharp and clean) through my PS3/HDTV system while my TNG episodes all have obvious grain to my nit-picky eye. I also watched one of the remastered TOS episodes with the new SFX on the latest Fan Collective (sorry, I can't remember the episode right now) and the new GCI effects were fun to see from the stand point that they were new to me, well done and didn't really take anything away from enjoying the whole episode (I just remembered, the episode is "Mirror, Mirror").

So, bottom line: If you don't mind missing out on watching TOS with the new SFX, then you're probably okay not double-dipping. TOS/SDVD PQ is clearly better as compared to the SDVD/PQ on TNG.

I only have II(both versions), III, IV, and VI on DVD, so I suppose I'll get the I-VI box set. I'll just hang onto the Director's Editions of II and VI.

I'm glad to have the theatrical cut of The Undiscovered Country. The Director's Edition made a stupid change with the insertion of the conspirators during the Spock/Valeris mindmeld. And great news about the lossless 7.1 tracks!

BTW, anyone else think the box set for I-VI looks a lot like the silver Star Wars Trilogy DVD set?

Too bad the series gets DTS-HDMA while the flicks get Dolby True HD but at least they're both 7.1 surround. Paramount needs to step up to DTS-HDMA.

I am very excited about these releases, but doesn't it seem odd that all 6 feature films ($104.99) is cheaper than Season One ($118.00)?

The movies include a seventh(bonus)disc....which I must say sounds very cool....a roundtable discussion with Shatner,Nimoy,Stewart, and Frakes.
