If any of you have this game for PS3, please let me know what you think of it.
I would especially like to hear from die-hard, hard-core fans of this game who pumped quarter after quarter into the arcade game back in 1982 or '83. I would love to get this game -- having the new HD picture, and also having (or so they say) the most seamless game play over all past versions. It even has the original movement "beeps" (correct and incorrect) of the original arcade laserdisc classic. But I've been hearing NOTHING BUT negative after negative comments about the PS3 version of DL. Everything from technical glitches to just all out *****ing about how it does NOT play even close to the original laserdisc game. Also, does anyone know if you can use any PS3 controller (the SIXAXIS, fancy arcade sticks, etc.) to play DL on PS3 (PLEASE don't say you have to use the BD/DVD infra-red remote control only). Thanks, a perplexed Jodi |

I don't have the game because it's not out yet, but I'll tell you what I do know. For starters, the game is a ps3 only exculsive to the console because the game requires a lot of complex animation and other effects that are only possible on the ps3. The tilt is optional for LAIR so you can use both analog sticks if you want to. I don't know the story behind LAIR. I don't know anything about negative commits for game unless everyone was complaining that the game isn't on the xbox 360, which it isn't. What would you use a regular remote controller for the game? I didn't see any multiplayer at all so I don't know if the game has any.

I have the game.
Its not without its problems. for one, if you die in the earlier levels, you just go on to the next level, and dont have to repeat the level you died on until later on in the game. This makes not knowing how you dies very frustrating. It also makes you play the same levels twice if theres a mirrored version in the game, so essentially your playing most levels twice. The game was animated at a 4:3 ratio also. so the widescreen mode is really cutting the top and buttom off. This is apparent when you get killed by somehting on the bottom of the screen (example..crumbling floor) without even realizing why. For the PS3 you cant select your amount of lives. You automatically have unlimited. I bought the game cuz Im a diehard fan of the series (could hardly wait unti time warp) but if your not, i recommend passing on this. |

Some of my arcade memories of "Dragon's Lair" include: 1. having to play some of the same levels twice (the "mirror image" where the left/right movements are opposite of each other). 2. unlimited lives.....hmmmm.......I can just allow myself 5 lives and start over at the end of the 5th life. Some machines were set for 3 lives, others for 5 lives. As for the 4:3/widescreen bit, I'll have to see what it looks like on my professionally calibrated Sony BRAVIA KDL-V32XBR2. There is an "easter egg" in "Dragon's Lair"...I don't know what it is, but if you find it, you can see the screen that says "INSERT 2 COINS FOR 3 DIRKS (EACH PLAYER)". "Space Ace" BD for PS3 is expected by the end of 2007, with "Dragon's Lair 2: TimeWarp" coming out in 2008, according to Digital Leisure. Thanks for your comments so far. Keep 'em coming! Jodi |
