Default I was just wondering what seperates cost

how much are you looking at for an amp a decoder and a receiver. Are we talking about a grand a piece or two to three grand a piece or what. I don't see my self living in a huge home so about 100 watts a channel would probably do me.

If I was loking I have heared a lot about a company named Rotel, other than going to their website is there another website that is non biased and review seperates could you let me know.

Please PM me as well as add to this thread.

For processors, the cheapest is 600ish (the Emotiva), and then there is a jump up 1800 (the Integra) and from there the sky is the limit pretty much. But for the most part, the majority range in the 2-5k range.

Amps, well those can go from pretty much any range as well, depending on the number of channels and how much power you want. You can find cheap amps new or used, and you can find amps for $30,000+ easily. It all depends on what you want. If you want a lot of power, it's going to more. Most 100 wpc amps aren't too expensive, I'd say you're looking at roughly 1k range new, but again there are cheaper alternatives, and again it depends if it's five channel or two channel.

There's also the option of buying used...Integras go for $1000 on Audiogon; the $2500 Marantz AV8003 goes for $1800 (brand new even) on A-gon; Anthem's separates go for as little as $800 on up depending on the model.

Thumbs up $1298 for an Outlaw Audio Combo is about as low as you can go for 7.1 separates

I think for separates of high quality about the best deal right now is the Outlaw Audio 990 processor/preamp with their 7 channel 75 watt per channel amp for $1298. If you have more money you can get the same processor with their 7 channel by 125 watt per channel amp for $1598. If you have more money and want a balanced 7 channel amp they have the same processor matched with their balanced 7 channel by 200 watt amp for $2648. https://www.outlawaudio.com/mofcart/combos.html

Keep in mind the price is low as in a few months they will release their replacement to the 990 processor, the new 997 for $1300 with some impressive features and specifications.

To me that is about the best deal for quality separates, if your budget is huge you can spend 6-7 digits if you want to get crazy.

FYI, what some people are doing is using a quality spliter box with their 990 to give the same input connections as the 997 and with the right blu ray you might get some of the newer decoding handled by the player.

I have the Outlaw 990 pre amp.. and I use the analog inputs from my Panasonic BD55 to listen to BD movie. sound really incredible to my ears. I also use a HDMI to DVI to my TV since it's old and doesn't have HDMI.. but the picture is awesome too.
