if its 1080p it will be 1080p no matter the screen size.

the smallest 1080p screen I've heard of is 32.

Default Depends...

There is a chart that explains distance vs resolution. Depending on the seating distance, 1080p might not matter. But do get the biggest size you can get without worrying about buying a bigger size. Even a 50" TV will look small after awhile. If your seating distance is 4-6 ft, 32" - 40" would be good for 1080p. 6-8ft would be 40" - 50" and so on. These are guidelines though so if you can only fit a 40" but sit 8ft back, thats fine, just move furniture or if you can't, thats fine too.

As for your question about vizio, I'm assuming LCD since they are more popular. I suggest sticking to the big three when it comes to LCD - Samsung, Sony, Sharp for quality products. Give us more info like price range and seating distance and we will gladly help you pick a TV.

If you get a smaller LCD, I'd definitely consider a Panasonic. If you get a bigger LCD, Phillips definitely deserves to be mentioned in the same league as Sony, Samsung, and especially Sharp.

Viewing distance for the screen size is what matters.
You only need to have a 40" or bigger display if you are 6 feet or farther away from it.

http://www.myhometheater.homestead.c...alculator.html

For common viewing distances of 8 - 10 feet, you really should have a 51" or bigger display.

I have a 42" 1080p HDTV at the foot of my bed - just under 6 feet viewing distance when I sit up.
Pretty close to ideal.

I also have a couple 1080p capable(1920x1200) laptops and at 22" viewing distance, they are about spot-on too!

I have seen some new HDTV's that are 32inch that now have full 1080P. Its up to you really but I say go 46 or bigger to get the full 1080P effect.

You won't notice the difference on a 32" between 720p, 1080i, or 1080p. You will only start notice the difference of 1080p on 50" and up. If your going to buy a 32" LCD save the extra money you really don't need 1080p, it's almost a waste and more of marketing scam.

My own personal view is that 1080p starts becoming important at 42" displays and above. The chart above is really for people with average vision over the entire human spectrum. I would expect those numbers to be slightly off if you're younger than a certain age and do not need vision aids like glasses.

This is incorrect. As Dadkins stated above, it has nothing to do with screen size and everything to do with viewing distance.

Actually, it all depends on a combination of:

1) Screen size
2) Viewing distance
3) Your eyesight

Of course, this is strictly for whether you will notice a difference between two IDENTICAL sets, one being 720p and the other being 1080p. Resolution is only a SMALL part of the overall picture quality. ANSI contrast ratio, the ability to accurately reproduce colors and motion resolution are far more important factors to consider than simply the native resolution of the set.

Yeah. There's a 22" Vizio at Target that's actually a 1080p. When we got it in, I did a massive facepalm.
