Did you see on the AVF forum the HD-DVD fanboys say they would boycott these recievers because the press release said optimized for blu ray and made no mention of HD-DVD. that made me laff so hard, i cant believe people can be so retarded.

OFF TOPIC: As I understand it, DTS HDMA allows for speaker placement depending on the content. The content dictates the best placement but you can re-place depending on your own speaker setup.

For example, Sony may use the original mix of The Last Action Hero for the BD version. Using DTS HDMA, they can deliver this 7.1 mix - Left, Center Left, Center, Center Right, Right, Surround Right, Surround Left and Subwoofer - as 7.1 Front Wide.

It's bad enough trying to afford a house in the UK, let alone £5,000 for a piece of home cinema kit... I mean, as sweet as that looks it's a bit out of a 2nd year Uni student like myself!! I can only imagine how good this sounds running from a PS3 and that colour, black and blue looks good in the dark all lit up... Here's hoping I graduate with a good pay cheque... lol

i hate those cone speakers and how they focus the sounds in one direction and create a "sweet" sport i like electrostatic speakers lol

im not sure about that. i find electro stats tend to be very directional and not everywhere.

The sound dispersal of a good cone speaker will be just as good as an electrostat. It's the quickness of the electrostat that is its main attraction.

If that's true, (and a format called Master Audio now that you mention it would logically indicate just that for 5 front channel movie mixes (SDDS and classic 6 track 70mm films) MASTERS), DTS HD MA would be worth any delays in gold

Ooo, I made your day.

Basically I was suggesting that Sony can do a direct SDDS 7.1 map and home users who don't have that kinda setup can just do 5.1. The inverse won't be true I think; a non-SDDS 7.1 map be expanded to SDDS 7.1 map. The soundfield won't mesh.

Either way, it's good to know that DTS is more flexible in their design.
