Default Told You So...

Unfortunately, according to John Singh, spokesperson for Lucasfilm Ltd., "Lucasfilm Ltd. has no plans to release any of the Star Wars movies on Blu-ray or HD DVD. Listings on Amazon.com or any other Web site are purely speculative and erroneous."

Remember, John Singh is just a spokesman.

It's time for George Lucas to get a good slap in the face after what he did with the "original" trilogy on the DVDs.

George Lucas's excuse for the DVD fiasco was that he needed to "get it right".

There is no excuse for the Blu-ray deal except that he knows what he has and I'm sure will only release when he feels he can generate the most revenue.

He's definitely in the drivers seat.

He's a lil' ***** thats what he is. He doesn't really care about the fans. he just cares about himself and how much money he can MAKE off of the fans. He's despicable!

Let's keep it civil here.

I wonder if they've already been mastered in HD, I don't think so...

Yes they have, were on Cinemax-HD and HBO-HD a few months ago, looking damn good in OAR and I have Comcast, so no HD Lite for me.

That doesn't mean a week/month/year from now that they won't anounce them. It is a chance to make even more money off of the movies. I don't think they will pass up an opportunity to release them in HD.

Here's another way to look at it. Lucas sold maybe 100 million copies of Star Wars on DVD. He would be lucky to sell 1 million copies on Blu-ray. Heck, neither Blu-ray nor HD DVD can sell 1 million total discs in a quarter. Again, the problem is this format war. Before the Lucas' of the world will take the next generation format seriously one of the formats (Blu-ray or HD DVD) must die. The real competition for the next generation format is not Blu-ray or HD DVD; rather, it is still DVD. Blu-ray and HD DVD will eventually cancel each other out if this thing is not settled soon.

Duh. Most people know that these are post format war titles. Nothing's changed.

Star Wars series in HD on HBO looked almost as good as my BD's do...

I have IV, V and VI saved to my Comcast DVR....I wish I could rip them from there, but I can't..

Tired of hearing about SW. I never really liked it either. Seems kinda corny. The latest 3 installments are good - nice picture - but the past older series I just can't watch.

BTW im 27.

Wow, see I'm just the opposite. The original 3 I love and can watch over and over, but I can't hardly stand the newest 3. And I'm also 27.

I concur with this...and I am 26...

the newest 3 seem more geared towards the geek fans than the overall fans...

the original 3 had a more geniune feel IMO...

My opinion is, you only need to watch Episode III to tie into the original films. Episode I and II are Bantha POODOO.

I enjoyed Edisode 1 except for Jar Jar Binx because of that retarded voice. It would be a much better movie if they re-dubbed Jar Jar Binx voice with something less irritating. But definitely episodes 4 - 6 and 3 rock.
