I just bought the Divergent Collection on Blu-Ray and I've come across a problem - the audio listed on the back does not match what's on the discs. The back says either DTS-HD or Dolby Atmos, however when I play the movies, I can only choose Dolby Digital 5.1, which is the DVD audio. I also tried hitting the audio button while the movie is playing to see if I can get anything other than DD 5.1, but no luck. I've sent emails to Lionsgate, but I doubt I'll get a response.
Has anyone experienced this? Should I try to return it to the retailer? |

Yeah, sometimes typos can happen. But these films all have hi-res audio, so it seems like the issue lies with you.
Does the HD audio choice not appear in the setup menu? Makes me think maybe you got the DVDs by accident? Did you buy these from a legit retailer or get a "deal" on eBay? If they're bootlegs, there's a good chance the specs aren't gonna be right. But again, if you bought them from a real store, then don't bother taking them back. They didn't do anything wrong. Also, let's take a look at your player. Is the case that you ARE choosing the HD audio track and these are legit blu-rays, but the on-screen display doesn't indicate you're playing an HD audio track? Then you may be using an older Sony player that, while playing the correct HD audio track, doesn't indicate it in any way on-screen. The BDP-S550, perhaps? There was an issue with the way the on-screen display worked that made it difficult to know whether the track was truly HD or lossy. Most models don't have this issue anymore. Does the same thing happen with every movie in the set? Give us some more info to go on... Last edited by benricci; 10-15-2017 at 07:35 PM. |

No, they're not the DVD's, unfortunately. They have the typical Blu-Ray labeling and the video is clearly high definition. They almost look like they're the rental versions as there's no extras and the disc says movie only, which I've seen from Redbox.

You didn't answer a lot of the questions above, which will help us figure out your problem.
1. Where did you buy these? (new from a legit retailer or some random seller on eBay)? I ask because lossy audio on major action titles like this would indicate you got a bootleg. 2. Are the HD audio options present in the audio setup menus? Or do you ONLY see lossy options in the menu? I'm not exactly clear on that. 3. What player are you using (see above, it could simply not be displaying the proper audio type on screen, even though it's playing a lossless soundtrack properly). 4. Is the problem on all discs in the set? Just one? Describe exactly what's going on - whether you're selecting a lossless track and you think it's playing a lossy track instead, or if the lossless options are not even available in the disc's setup menu and your only selectable option is lossy audio. Screenshot of the menu would be helpful. Please elaborate. Last edited by benricci; 10-15-2017 at 09:53 PM. |

1. Retailer, not ebay
2. They are not listed in the menu - I can only select DD 5.1 or another language 3. Player does not matter, I have hundreds of Blu's and I've never had this problem. I've bought more recent movies and they've played fine. 4. All discs - DD 5.1 is the only option. |
