Default Blu-ray vs. Ultraviolet

The future has arrived. I don't necessarily like it but it's here.

This is all about cutting out the middle man. Make no mistake, we'll be seeing Ultraviolet/Flixster apps on HDTV's and Blu Ray players before the year is out....

Absolutely right.

Every studio is going to do this. The problem, I see, is having an account for every studio's Ultraviolet service.

It should've been the other way around. Every studio having a section at Ultraviolet's website and having your digital locker there instead....

If I could get access to all the special features, then I'm for it. Otherwise, F that.

This.

If they offered a really good HD quality copy of the movie and let's say 60% of the special features, I'd seriously think about going all streaming...because let's all be honest, this is how they want to go any way.

No more physical discs= a lot of money saved on their end when it comes to manufacturing...

I've no issue with it long as that data on the disc is my movie I paid for and everything else with it. Now if we get to a point where your player has to have internet access to play cause you have to log-into some account then we got issues. I also would not put that past the studios to do.

The prices on the digital copies is so damn laughable forking 20 bucks are they crazy?

That's exactly what is going to be required. They rather you stream than download a digital copy because they'll have the control.

Granted, every blu ray player is internet capable anyway...

What now? So say I buy a BR and I put it in my player with this new plan I got to be online just to play it on my player? I don't mean the digital copies I mean my disc copy.

Oh, no. You'll still play the BD without having to be online. That'll stay the same as it is now.

What they want you to do is stop buying discs COMPLETELY!

An Ultraviolet app (maybe for each studio) on your TV gives you access to your digital locker of films and that's how they want you to watch movies from now on....

OH ok I was thinking WTF are they crazy. well I've no issue with this if they do it right. One account to play my movies on everything. Long as they leave my disc itself alone they can do what they want.

They can keep dreaming if I pay money for something I want a hard copy I can hold in my hands unless the saving are huge.

Yeah that sure cost them big. I also remember that whole buy a disc and it kills itself 24 hours later. Now I've no issue with this if it's just a code I in-put like I said long as I get the disc I'm cool. I was thinking the UV codes just come with a BR does it not? Like a digital copy they were doing.
