Default tv on center question

hey guys i just purchased an klipsch rc 62 center channel and was wondering can i put my samsung 46' lcd on it? or is that a bad idea?

it won't hurt the t.v. or the speaker (since they're shielded etc... and magnetic issues aren't a problem with LCD/Plasma really)

You don't have any other alternative though? Will it be stable like that

There are a few folks who have done it, but I have to agree on the stability issue. Build a sturdy riser for your TV, and place the center channel in front of the riser. Or, can you wall-mount a system like Joe's, or install a sturdy, matching shelf on the wall for your center speaker?

I would imagine your TV weights about 60 pounds. That's some hefty weight to commit to setting on the center channel cabinet.

I have a Polk CS2 with a Samsung 46", and no space on cabinet. I built a shelf 8" high and 25" length. I put the CS2 under the shelf and the TV on top.

I sat a 33" CRT that weighed at least 120 pounds on top of my centre speaker for years (see my gallery). If your set is stable on your (smaller) speaker, go for it.
