Normally when browsing the internet, I would have all pop-up ads and things of that sort blocked. But recently I started using PeerGuardian, and now that has a habit of alerting me when it's blocking stuff.
So within the last few days, I realized that this site, and this site only, gives me an alert about trying to connect to Seeking4Luv.com. Anyone else getting this recently? |

I got one also, and looked through all the posts, and found it was all regular members, so no possible "Spam" was hidden.... and since then, I've been noticing them more and more..... for instance, one thread (that I created) gives me the cert. check every time I open it, or attempt to post in it...... it's annoying to say the least.

I might have stumbled upon a clue.
I happened to try quoting someone's post to reply to it, and I noticed they included an IMG link to seeking4luv.com, but the JPG was either not real, or too small to see in their post. Perhaps this is what's triggering the certificate thing in Firefox? I'm using Camino, which is basically a Mac version of Firefox. I can reload this thread over and over, and it's fine. But if I go click the thread that that guy posted in, I get the warning pop-up thing. He might be spamming the site? ![]() Have no fears people Private Toefer is on the case. ![]() Edit: I reported the guy to the mods, so we'll see what happens. He's been a member since October, and is averaging 0.8 posts per day, but in the last few days he's really picked up the posting pace. His trademark style is to bump threads with a 1-2 word comment that doesn't really add or say anything, and then includes the hidden link inside of his post. It might be possible that most of these people are just bad at what they are doing, and it's not working how they think it will. The first Seeking4Luv guy was getting a certificate request/notification thing to pop up in Firefox for me and some other people, whereas some of these other sites people are using seem to be harmless. I don't know how search engines work, but could this be an effort to boost page ranks, based on increasing the number of sites that refer back to their own? Since they're linking to a tiny image file, maybe that's not really helping though (as opposed to linking to a specific page). |
