NHL 09

Published by: Electronic Arts
Developed by: EA Canada
Genre: Sports
Number of Players: 1-12
Release Date:
US: September 9, 2008
Australia: Q4 2008

Did not see an existing thread on this so figured i would add it . Game is coming out very soon and for those of you that have played the demo i am sure you are very pleased. IGN just reviewed the game and it gave it a 9 and these are the closing comments:

PS3 IGN REVIEW 9.0/10

"NHL 09 isn’t just a great hockey game, it’s one of the best sports games to be released in the last decade. It takes the right analog stick controls first pioneered in last year’s game and pushes them forward ever so slightly while pouring on features that everyone from newbies to diehards will appreciate. The only question remaining is how they’ll follow this sports game of the year contender once next season rolls around."

Habs legends invade NHL09

"In an effort to commemorate the upcoming Canadiens Centennial on December 4, 2009, NHL09 will feature an assortment of Canadiens All-Stars and legends of the game from the past century. This historical twist will finally give NHL series veterans the chance to step into the skates of some of the greatest players in Habs history. "

Who is going to be picking this up ? I need some buddies to play with the be a pro mode

Im torn between this or madden. I played the demo and really enjoyed it. Havent had a hockey game in years but this one might be the one that gets me over the edge. Would be nice to play for more than a period with the team of my choice lol

lol i know. i've been playing the demo over and over again. At least give me a rematch option instead of having me exit to menu everytime lol. The be a pro mode , for me, is a huge reason to own this game. Especially online, it sounds amazing.

IF anything, you should get it so you can play the greatest hockey players in habs history !!!!

NHL>>>>>>>>>>>>>Madden

I've always gotten both over the years and got madden and cant stand it put it up after a few days. There isnt really a choice here, NHL with the Be A Pro will blow madden away!!!!

Also it has been mentioned before but I think we are going to start a blu team

ya. they are a lot more aggressive and the puck isn't glued onto your stick as much as before.

NHL08 for PS3 is likely the most fun I have ever had with a game so I'll be picking up NHL09 for sure.

probably is . i don't know i just went into two stores and they were going to give 5$ for resistance in perfect condition... I did hear something about being able to trade 2 games for NHL 09 at ebgames. I think there is something about it in the hot threads forums.

*edit*

ya here is the thread about it

not exactly what i said but cheaper for sure!

Definite must buy. The be a pro mode in the demo was the deal maker. I dont know anyone on the boards here, but Id love to start a team or be in a league when the game comes out. My PSN is AerisLives.

NHL 09 for sure, for the simple reason that you use the analog stick to shoot the puck and deke whereas 2k9 you use the old school press the buttons technique etc.

NHL08 kicks kicks NHL2K8's butt so I'm not expecting the 09 versions to be any different.

i will be getting this for im a huge hockey fan. i play as well. the reason i love this game so much is that nhl 08 was the first hockey game were you can attually set up in the offensive zone instead of the normal run and gun hockey games.. im just curious to see how my senior citizen signings are this season also ...rolston will be good i know that and holik but man 2.5 for holik and 20mil for 4 years on rolston they are both over 34
