are you dead set on the pioneer elite? why? I think there are better receivers out there with more power and cheaper.

A google shows broadwayphoto.com selling it for $1059 plus $67 for shipping but I am not familiar with the company. Vanns lists it for $1800 which makes your deal much better.

ya i had been looking around for a while, i had enough of my sony, i was considering getting a pre/pro but thought i would get better value with a high end receiver especially since my amp is only 5 ch and i want to eventually move to 7 ch but i dont want to get another 2 ch amp

it wasnt a bad receiver by any means, infact i liked it very much but i had to send it to be repaired because the video on hdmi would cut out for several secconds. I also wasnt fully satisfied with the sound quality and found that the pioneer was much more pleasing and also had enough power to drive a pair of polk lsi 7's that i plan on getting in the near future for my 6th and 7th ch

...manufacturer listed specs don't always tell the whole story. Not to mention you'd have to double overall wattage to notice any significant difference.

What it comes down to is overall quality, and Pioneer Elite makes some of the finest in the world.

I still think that ultimately, it would have been better to get a good Pre/Pro now and a 2 channel Power amp later. No question in my mind that you would have had better sound from your system. Using the receiver is a waste of the amps and electricity. Also, in the future, had you had a really good 2 channel amp, you could have used it alone if you were listening to channel sound with better sound reproduction and a much lower expenditure of electricity.

Rich

And experience. I agree with crackin; I have two Elites, and didn't settle on them lightly.

that was i was going to do, but after much research i found that the pioneer was my best choice. The integra pre pro was the only unit in the same price range as the pioneer and i really felt that it was of lower quality. Additionally i would still have to spend atleast 400 dollars on a seperate 2ch amp for the rears once i get my lsi7's. Also the elite is just beautiful, eaisly the best looking peice of electronics i have.
