Congrats on the F3's man.

Sorry for stealing your thread but i had a question.

Does anyone know how these stack up againest the Klipsch RF-82's or the RF-62's?

Cause i was planning on getting the RF's eventually, but i seen the F3's at circuit city and it tempted me to get them instead, cuz they are cheaper.
Any Input would be awesome, Thanks in Advance.

I looked at the c2 center and passed, i tried to find the c3 on the web today and it is not available anywhere. I am running an infinity cc2 center i have had since 1998, it still sounds great, but now i have the klipsch f3's and a brand new ed sub, im thinking of upgrading my center, i guess i will get the reference series klipsch center, i wonder if there is much difference between the 6 inch and 5.25 models?

I believe the RF-82's which I own as well are in a different series and are "better" overall. I am not 100% sure but I believe the reference speakers are better than retail store line. Don't hate me if I am wrong I don't know much about speakers but I am pretty sure on this one....

I picked up the pair of f3s because a friend of mine started with them as fronts, then caught a deal on a pair of rf-82s and moved the f3s to surrounds. His system sounds amazing.I hope I can catch a deal on a pair of rf-82 or 83 in the next couple of months.

I wouldn't recommend getting a center from a different speaker line. They won't be timbre-matched with each other. All the speakers in any series are meant to be used together (within reason) and as such will be timbre-matched. That means they will sound the same. A speaker from a different series, while still from the same manufacturer, isn't guaranteed to be timbre-matched to your existing mains. I would recommend you stick with the C2. The C3 would be the best choice if you can find one.

You could also always contact Klipsch directly for advice.

Klipsch has discontinued the C3. Kinda wierd to me that they did that, they still make F3's.

I have the F2's with the C3 center channel and it does sound nice.

That sucks that i wont be able to get the c3. My infinity still sounds good, i dont know if the c2 would be a upgrade for me. Circuit has a good deal on one and they have the polk cs2 for 179.99, i dont know if they are good or not, but as of right now im looking at the klipsch reference series center speakers. Too bad i cant find a c3.

Which speaker post on the f3(hf or lf) do you hook the speaker wire to?Also do you know what to set the crossover to 80,90 or 120?

You can connect it to either the high or low posts, just as long as the little metal straps that connect the high and low are in place

also those speakers will go as low as 40Hz so you can try it out at 40 and turn it up and down to see what sounds good.

The synergy series (F series) is Klipsch's entry level line, they are good for the money but they don't keep up to the reference line very well... the reference speakers just sound... fuller... they have better tuning, a more accurate tweeter, and better midrange

I wouldn't set it right at the speaker's rating- I'd give it at least 10hz. You want a good rolloff without any audio holes.

well they actually go down to 35Hz... but there isn't really gonna be any "holes" if you're using a subwoofer that is covering from 20Hz to 80Hz.

Depends on what you're listening to. 2ch audio for example sends it all to the fronts with the exception of the crossover, and if you have an audio hole because of a crossover setting... you're going to miss something.

Thankyou very much for your answers. Now I have to get a new receiver.I don't think my yamaha v661 can push these f3.I saw cc had the oknyo 806 for $599.I was also looking at a pioneer receiver to match my plasma(151).Boy this is a expensive hobby.lol.

I guess thats true... I just didn't really think of the 2 channel aspect... but even then the roll-off or whatever on most receivers is pretty steep so you may not miss much, if anything... and besides... if you're doing 2 channel you should use a stereo receiver
