Default First Plot Point in Iron Man 2 (Minor Spoilers)

There has been a great deal of speculation regarding Tony Stark's alcoholism playing a large role in the next movie, and it seems based on the first real copy of the screenplay the writers are kicking off this storyline right from the beginning. Not a massive spoiler by any means, but still something new to report:

Quote:
NPR has an interesting bit about some "Iron Man 2" plot points. Apparently Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark character does some good ol' alcohol inspired barfing at the top of the screenplay. Sounds like that "Demon In A Bottle" story line is indeed going to rear its head.

"Eight weeks before shooting began on Iron Man 2, [production designer,] J. Michael Riva had just gotten the first real script.

But he did have a list of sets and plot points. The first item on the list read: 'Tony, in the Iron Man armor, pukes in a toilet.'

'I design a toilet,' says Riva. 'My big job for the day. After that I can go home. My kids ask me, 'What'd you do today, Dad?' I designed a toilet!"
Full story here.

Sounds like a lead in to Jim Rhodes/War Machine.

Not interested in this sub-plot AT ALL.

I want to go to a superhero movie to have fun - not watch, Leaving Las Vegas in an Iron Man suit.

Seriously though, I just want a fun (yet serious) Iron Man - I prefer my Superhero movies to not deal with the 12 step program.

well that is how they are most likely going to bring in War Machine to the plot

come on, deal with that and then u get two guys in metal suits blowing sh** up and fighting thing

i personally cant wait to see them use the demon in a bottle plot line from the comics

that and give us a better villain, obadiah was ok, but i want better

So, are little kids going to get a toy toilet to have Iron Man puking in?

I just hope they don't spend half the movie on it. I'm fine if they use it as a lead in and give a nod to that infamous storyline - but we have 2 hours with Iron Man (not a long drawn out story as with comics) - I want some fun, not melo-drama.

Unless, Iron Man is going to be fighting a huge mechanical Budweiser horses, I'm not interested.

the toilet is going to come with the action figure

i agree that it shouldnt be the entire movie
the movie will probably clock in around 2hours and 20minutes or so, maybe a little less

so i wouldnt mind 30minutes for the alcohol storyline

I hope playing the character doesn't end up with him relapsing in real life.

Tony Stark - with projectile vomiting!

Yeah, I'm good if they want to give it the lead in for the movie.

I figure Downey will do really good bringing the "realism" to the role. Really, they shouldn't bother cause he is so closely related in real life to this stuff - that I feel they asking for comparisons.

Hopefully, Tony Stark doesn't wake up in someone's house he doesn't know.

I hope this sequel is done right. Of course it won't be as big as TDK...but if it's as funny/exciting as the first, I'll be happy.

Agreed. Hopefully there will be the alcohol storyline, but that it won't be overdone. I hope that MARVEL can also still get Rourke to be Crimson Dynamo, too.
