I read user comments in the reviews and threads about movies that some posters can't even sit through. I'm a fairly patient person, and it's a rare movie that I can't sit all the way through. I do torture myself sometimes, but I find something redeeming in just about everything I watch that makes me want to see the end. Sometimes, I watch it simply to justify being able to leave negative comments, so I can say I watched the whole thing. What does it take for you to turn it off and not even give a rip how it ends?
I know younger people don't have the type of patience that their predecessors do (I learn this from Yahoo.com, which is always right ![]() For me, I think I have to find that the movie really does not have a plot...that it started nowhere and nothing developed, so I conclude early that the end will reveal nothing. I've seen some really bad movies in their entirety. That last movie I could not watch was Automatons. I watched about 5 minutes of it. |

There are two things that are vitally important to have in a movie and those are 1) plot, and 2) character development. If a film lacks one of those then I will still watch it; however, if it lacks both of them I cannot make it through the movie.

I cannot stand poor writing. That's pretty vague, I guess, but if the plot seems like a turd, or the dialogue sounds like a 5 year old wrote it, I don't know if I can make it through the movie.
I was suffering through Gone Baby Gone, but only because I had friends over watching it. |

poor writing with lots of plot holes or "wtf" moments
Take Robotcop3 for example (just watched it for the first time when I was in a lecture), how the hell can a little girl who lives in the ghetto has a laptop capable or the knowledge to hack into a state-of-the-art robot? |

Bad plot writing is anything Uwe Boll craps out. I have a hard time sitting through romance movies or romantic comedies because its all fluff. I do like darker dramas with a good story behind it, but most of the time I just want to leave the real world for a couple hours when I watch a film. |

A bad story/plot. A bad script/dialogue. Bad acting.
Some examples of these, and this is just my opinion are 1. Battlefiled Earth just bad all the way around (made it through 45 minutes before turning it off) 2. Napoleon Dynamite another on that was just horrible (made it through 45 minutes before turning it off) 3. Miami Vice moved too slow for me to care what was going on (made it through an hour before falling asleep) 4. Hulk-2003 another one that moved way to slow (made it though just over an hour before falling asleep) 5. Red Planet Yet another all around bad movie (made it all the way through but still had no idea what it was about) |
