Default Do movies seem LONGER when you're watching 'em in theaters?

I've noticed this on almost every movie I've seen. It seems like when I go and see a movie, it seems so long. Maybe because I never check the time/have access to time in the movies. But when I get the home version of the movie, I'm like.....it was this short?

Maybe it's just me

i guess because u r always relax at home, no need to worry to drive home later. so u can watch movie by the position whatever you like, but u can only sit there in theater

No, I can see where you're coming from.

I do try to go as often as I can and I think it seems longer for a number of reasons:
1) You haven't seen the movie before, so you're paying more attention and don't expect certain things to happen.
2) You're always sat down and don't do other things which could take your mind off the movie.
3) You're in a different enviroment to one in which you're familiar with, so everything seems to go on for longer periods of time.

At least that's what I think.

It is actually the opposite for me. Movies seem to fly by when I am in the theater and seem to be the appropriate length at home. In the theater, Inception seemed to go by really fast both times I saw it. I really thought it must have been cut since I last heard the run time. I highly enjoy the film, but I have a hard time sitting all the way through that, The Dark Knight, basically any movie over 2 hours.

I think this point of view comes more from the idea that going to the movies is an event for a day. Watching a movie at home usually cut into other time for me.
