Default Speaker sound options on PS3 HELP!

Can someone please tell me what all those options are in the sound settings (PS3) (all those mhz and the rest) My receiver is a bit old (2003) but I know it has DTS, which options should I check, I dont want to mess up my speakers, I think I might have already, not sure..help

try selecting "automatic" settings for the easier and safest options.

How are you connecting your PS3 to your receiver? That's the first step.

Hi there, your right should have left a few more details. My PS3 is connected to the receiver via a Fiber Optic cable/Toslink and this is my receiver:

Also, what kind of speaker set-up do you have?

I have a 2.1 setup for now and I do PCM. With a toslink connection, you can get uncompressed PCM audio but only in 2 channel. Sounds great.

If you have a 5.1 system, unfortunately, you want be able to take advantage of any loseless audio with a toslink connection. But for 5.1 sound, use bitstream.

Plenty of threads on the net regarding this.

Check these options: DTS, DD, 88.1 kHz 2-channel PCM audio. Done.

Ditto bitstream, I have a 5.1 system, low end in value. Always had it on bitstream. Thx.

With optical connection, the only 5.1 sound you're going to get is by Dolby Digital and DTS. Enjoy your setup!
