Default Ghostbuster: The Game PATCHED!!!

Wanted to start a new thread because of the signifigance of this patch. So many people on this forum had commented about waiting to get the game until the problems were fixed..... well, that time is now!!!

http://www.incgamers.com/News/18262/

Quote:
Terminal Reality has patched the PS3 version of Ghostbusters: The Video Game.

According to CVG, the patch addresses the PS3 resolution issues which have caused so much uproar from PS3 fans.

As we reported back in June, some sites, having compared the visuals from the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game, concluded that the PS3 version looked noticeably inferior. The developer Terminal Reality subsequently confirmed that, rather than running at 720p, the PS3 version renders “at about 75% the resolution of the 360 version.”

However, the developer has apparently resolved the issue in the patch.

“Both single and multiplayer modes have been updated. In single player mode, fixes include an increase in resolution to match that of Xbox360 and some freeze issues, along with numerous other localization fixes,” said the developer.

"Several audio/subtitle mismatches have been patched up as well. The multiplayer patches fix certain maps when both SCEA and SCEE players attempt to play with each other, and the Pay Day Trophy and Capture All Most Wanted Ghosts Trophy now unlock properly."

Good job PS3 fans, looks like the shouting worked.
This means that the most major issues have been addressed, if not resolved. It will be nice to play this game now at varying hours without dealing with the "Wrong Map Version" error that came along with playing during European peak hours!!!

So the patch is live, anyone got it? Do the graphics look better? Bugs all nice and fixed?

ersion. Developer Terminal Reality told Joystiq, "The PS3 version ... is softer due to the 'quincunx' antialiasing filter and the fact we render at about 75% the resolution of the 360 version." 25% fewer pixels? Unacceptable!

Atari is promising to redress the differences between the two platforms with a new patch for the PS3 version which is supposedly available right now. According to the Atari press release, the patch will offer an "increase in resolution to match that of Xbox 360" while offering "numerous other localization fixes."

Additionally, the Trophies for the game have been fixed. A glitch – caused when players from Europe and America played with each other – prevented the "Pay Day" and "Capture All Most Wanted Ghosts" Trophies (and subsequently, the game's mandatory Platinum) from unlocking properly. If bustin' ghosts with your international pals makes you feel good, it might be time to fire up Ghostbusters again.

What about the burning embers after you fry the walls which the 360 version has? I want burning embers!

If anyone figures out exactly how to get the Payday trophy please post up. No one I know can figure out how to do it and have tried many different things. It seems simple but its not unlocking by just doing what the description says.

I wouldn't know or care about that. The only single player aspect I need to take care of is the "Nice Shooting Tex" trophy where you have to complete the game with causing less than $100,000 damage. And the single player game is extremely fun regardless of whether this detail was added or not.

It's the major online problems that I've faced that were really getting on my nerves. Working nights left me with only being able to play when the game was flooded with European users. I'd spend literally 45 minutes trying to find a game that would load for me because of the map error!

I tried the PS3 demo and it just looked awful. Very pixelated and like vasoline was covering my tv. This patch makes the game look more interesting. Is it worth picking up with games like Batman and Infamous out and Uncharted 2 and Modern Warefare 2 on the way?

Well no as much as I like that game it doesnt compete with Infamous and Uncharted 2 (no games compares with Uncharted for that matter...)

Yeah my only real concern too was the map error! Glad that is corrected.

The single player won't compare to the games you listed, but any Ghostbuster fan will enjoy it. It's the online multiplayer that proves the most enjoyable aspect about this title. So many people I've talked to while playing online have stated the same sentiments as me... I felt like a total geek buying the game and it turned out to be some of the most fun I've ever had playing online. It's great because the online is essentially all CO-OP! All other online games tend to be competitive... even when working as a team.

Ok, I lied. Lying in bed I just couldn't shake my mind off of the patch. So, I played a bit of single player and online play to ease my mind.

Definitely an improvement on the visual end. I couldn't tell if I was playing with anyone from Europe though. Nobody had headsets for me to confirm with.
