OK, when you spend a $1000 for something, it should work perfectly, even a piece of electronics. I recently bought Pirates of the Carribean and Hellboy. Put each of them in my player and got a message saying "This operation is prohibited by this disc". I called Sony and they told me that I need the 2.0 firmware update. Great...but its not available yet. It may be up to a month before I receive it. I never had this kind of problem with my HD DVD player (yes, I own both, for movie selection purposes).

Anyone else having this issue???

There's a thread or two talking about this problem. Both Pirates of the Carribeans and Hellboy play find on my PS3.

You don't mention it but I assume you bought the Sony BD-PS1 player. If so, then there is a version 2.0 firmware update available that will enable your player to play POTC (with BD-J encoding). Go to the Sony web site and download the firmware to a cd. You will be fine.

No problem here on my Panasonic DMP-BD10. I've played them with Firmware 2.0 and 2.1 on the Panny with no issues whatsoever. I just went to Firmware 2.2, but haven't tried any discs yet. Which Sony do you have?

Move along, theres nothing to see here.

Dude, update your firmware...it's been available on Sony's site for weeks.
You will get DD+ & TrueHD decoding as an added bonus to being able to play those discs you just bought (which BTW are fabulous demo material!)

have a great day~!
