It’s been obvious for a while that there’s only a few movie stars these days that can draw an audience. There’s the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Cruise, and even Sandra Bullock has proven in her last few theatrical releases that she can still move the needle. But these are all actors who became movie stars in the 90s!
What I find odd when reconciling with how few legit “movie stars” there are these days is that it seems society is still as celebrity obsessed as ever before. Quentin Tarantino recently made a point that the “Marvelization of a Hollywood has made movie stars obsolete”. But I don’t think that can be entirely to blame for it. What exactly do you think are the reasons why so few actors today are true “movie stars” that can draw an audience like they have in the past? |
