Thumbs up The Flight of the Phoenix (1965)

http://www.amazon.com/Flight-Phoenix.../dp/B00008MTVZ

I remember seeing this on TV when I was a kid and it is a fantastic forgotten flick. It's time it saw blu-ray.

Anyone else remember this classic?

The only FAIL here is the fact it's not on blu-ray yet. This thread is to rally support for a release date.

I swore off DVD when I bought into blu-ray and the DVD I bought after that was The Black Hole. If this isn't on blu-ray soon, I'll have to make another exception.

It's been 46 years since this film saw the light of day as a high def theatrical film. It deserves to be on blu-ray.

Cool

A friend picked it up for me for cheap and I traded another DVD for it.

It brought back so many memories. Superior actors and a great flick. Where is the blu-ray already?

Yeah, where IS the damn Blu-ray anyhow?!?

A superb film like this deserves the best treatment possible.

This is another vote for the 1965 version to be released on Blu-ray. It's long overdue.

I vote for the release of this too on BD but shouldn't this thread be under the wish list thread.

Default Flight Of The Phoenix (1965) Blu-Ray

Hi. I've been in contact with 20th Century Fox Video doing my best to convince them to release a superior Blu-Ray release of 'Phoenix' for about a year or so now. I've sent and received 6 or 7 emails from them regarding this issue. I never get an affirmation that they are currently working on the project or even that they have plans to do so, but I have repeatedly emphasized the demand and fan base for this great film, from around the world. I also emphasized to them how imperative it is to do interviews for the Blu-Ray release of the few surviving cast members, now well in to their 80's and 90's, before they pass away. The surviving cast members are George Kennedy, Hardy Kruger and Sir Richard Attenborough. "You better hurry up!" I keep telling them.
If you'd also like to write and them provide more support for my cause, the email address is:
foxconnect@orderassistance.com
Be sure to tell them to forward it on to the Home Video and Blu-Ray Release department.
The more people they hear from, the more likely they'll actually begin the project and get those darn interviews done!
Regards,
Tom B.

Agreed!
I posted on here a couple days ago regarding my efforts to persuade Fox Home Video to get going on this project! Time is surely running out to conduct interviews with George Kennedy, Hardy Kruger and Sir Richard Attenborough for a respectable Blu-Ray release.
I also included Fox Connect's email address in my post.
Regards.

I've never seen the 1965 one but the remake was horrible.

You really must see the 1965 original - it's superb. The writing, acting, story-telling, direction, photography .......... just see it.

And this thread lives on. Yeah, I finally got it on DVD some time ago. It had some cheesy effects (and perhaps acting) inside the plane but after that it was all meat and potatoes.

I don't know if it's the way they shot the film in those days, but no one these days seems to know how to bloody act! 'cept maybe Tom Hanks.

Sir Richard Attenborough just passed away last week. I hate to say I told them so, but I told them so.
Once again, if you want to pester 20 Century Fox as to why on earth they have not yet released a Special Edition Blu-Ray of this great film yet, again, here's the contact email: foxconnect@orderassistance.com

Sucks that this still doesn't exist. It's a wonderful movie.
