Hello everyone,
It only seems fitting that after all this time, I start my first thread in need of advice and guidance. Let me start by saying that I thought I was finally all set for the upgrade, and had decided to get myself a Pioneer PRO-111. When I heard Pioneer was folding from the display market, I knew this was the time to do it. Then, as is usual, I waited too long, and my dealer is now out of stock, with no plans to re-order. However, I am assured that there are a handful of Signature Series PRO-101's left, and that I can still get my hands on one of those. But being so sure about the PRO-111 now makes me hesitant to change to the PRO-101. I know that for all intents and purposes, the panels are near-identical. If anything, the PRO-101 better suits most my needs. Its only shortcoming thus far is that it does not come with the pedestal stand, as mounting is not an option. But, given that I have no need for a tuner, or TV speakers, the PRO-101 does have everything I need. So, the question then, is, am I just overreacting? Should I go for the PRO-101, no more questions asked, and just be happy with it, as long as I can get a pedestal stand for it? Am I forgetting anything else I should take into consideration? Am I just freaking out needlessly? As always, thanks for everyone's time and comments. Please, set me straight! |

If the 101FD is all that's "left" , you should snatch it up without a thought. If you don't need a tuner, speakers or stand then what's the problem? Pioneers are the best TVs money can buy. Why would you have 2nd thoughts about buying the best tv on the market??? Pioneer will still stand by "us" Kuro owners even though there not making them anymore. No worries my friend, & welcome.

The Elite Signature series is slightly better quality then the standard Elite. I just setup a Pioneer PRO-141FD in the other room of the house since I preferred it over the PRO-151FD. The Signature series also supports PAL and SECAM signals and is assembled with the best quality hand inspected parts. The monitor is also ultra thin. The tuner, speakers, and stand are not included in order to keep cost down.

Thanks everyone for your answers. I tried to follow your advice, and really wanted to snatch a PRO-101. But, apparently Canadian pricing sucks, so that was not possible! I did, however, manage to nearly steal a 5020, in Canadian pricing. So, all is well, that ends well.
And for anyone who has hated waiting for their Kuro to be delivered...I think it would be easier to wait for delivery than to have to look at the TV sitting on my floor as I wait for the 3 hours I need to set it up! Down with waiting....is it the weekend yet? |
