Exclamation Fry's in-store pick-up pricing policy

Fry's in-store pick-up has a strange quirk: The price is not locked at the time an order is placed. Rather, it is priced at the time of pick-up. So if a sale ends between the time you order an item and when you pick it up, you are supposed to be charged the regular price instead of the expired sale price.

This happened to me when I ordered The Silence of the Lambs on the last day of the $17.99 sale, then picked it up the next day. Thankfully, the staff was very helpful and let me have it for the sale price.

I wrote to Fry's customer service with the following feedback, which I thought was rather diplomatic :

Quote:
I recently placed an order for in-store pick-up, and went to the store the next day to pick up my item. I knew when I ordered it that it was the last day the item was on sale. I was surprised to find that Fry's policy is to charge the price effective at the time of pick-up, instead of at the time of order. Thankfully, the staff was very helpful and let me purchase the item at the discounted price.

This is a very odd practice. Other websites that offer in-store pick-up lock the price at the time an item is ordered. I understand that in-store pick-up is a new service for you and that you may still be fine-tuning your logistics. I'd like to suggest that you consider aligning your policies in line with standard industry practice to help ensure that you retain happy customers.
We'll see how they reply.
