Default My audio is out of sync on my PS3

Ever since I bought my surround sound (Sony HT-SS2300) the audio on not all but some of my Blu-rays and DVDs are out of sync. If I take the HDMI cable from my PS3 out of the receiver and plug it straight into my tv (Sony KDL-52W4100) the audio is back in sync. Any ideas?

There most likely is a sync fix on the receiver. read the manual for it...

You will almost always run into a delayed audio sync with AVRs. Do what pelican170 suggested. There has to be a delayed video/lip sync option in the settings. Also try setting your distances correctly, as that too effects lip sync. Believe it or not, sound still has to travel to your ear. And sound travels a lot slower than light, i.e. your picture, to reach a certain position to where you sit. Case and point, lightning and thunder.

I talked with Sony over the weekend and they were stumped. They told me to reset the receiver but no change. The home theater department said it's probably something to do with the frequency from the PS3. I don't know about that...that's beyond me. Thanks for the help. I'll look through the manual again. I don't know if this makes a difference but whenever I reset my Playstation the audio that is off on those certain Blu-rays is back in sync...but just for a few minutes. ugh!

There should be an AV/SYNC or audio delay in miliseconds ms adjust accordingly.

is there a chance that u have audio coming out of both ur tv and ur system at the same time? the timing cam be slightly different and can create an echo effect, or a lay person might just think the audio is out of sync.

I checked and there's no sound coming from the TV. Do you think it could be my TV thats the problem? Now that I think about it the problem never showed itself until I bought the new TV. I went from a Sony KDL-46V2500 to KDL-52W4100. Do you think it could somehow be the TV?

Doubtful, but describe the problem first. Is the audio delayed (sound after the lips move) or is the picture delayed (sound before the lips move)? Your TV is only receiving video, and could only be the problem if the picture is delayed. Audio delay is almost always due to the audio processing in the AVR.

The audio comes before the video. I went to Best Buy and they told me to run my HDMI straight to the TV and running an Optical Digital Audio Cable to my receiver. This of course did not help…it only made the setup more complicated. I also tried a different Blu-ray player, a laptop with Blu-ray, and the audio was still out of sync. This makes me think that it’s the receiver and not the PS3. What do you think?

Sounds like there's a problem with your HTiB. Go though the documentation and find the section on audio sync problems. There should be a setting you can adjust. Wht's strange is that the audio is before the video, which seems to indicate some type of video processing is being done in the HTiB (which shouldn't be happening).
