I just got my new 805 and have a few noob questions. I looked in a few other threads but didn't find the answers I was looking for.
I set my PS3 to LPCM and the audio settings to Automatic (HDMI) but I'm not sure what settings on the 805 to change. I'm coming from an Onkyo 506 and I had my fronts set to Large and the Center set to small, and the crossover was set to 80hz. On the 805, I just ran Audyssey and it set my fronts and center to Full Band. Is this the same as Large on my other receiver? Or should I change them to a certain Hz level? I'd like to set the Center to Small again (or the equivalent), how do I do this? I don't really understand what the "crossover level" is so I'm not sure what to set everything to or if I should just leave it the way Audyssey set it. Audyssey turned double bass on, but I turned it off for now. Should I turn it back on until I get my new A2-300? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks |

Ok I have the fronts set at Full Band and the Center at 80Hz. My sub is pretty decent and it can hit decently hard when it needs to (I know that will be shattered by the A2-300 shortly) but the sub can do its job fairly well right now. Should I just let it handle the majority of the bass and leave Double Bass off?
I'm gonna keep my Audyssey set for the next month or 2 before I move while my setup is in my room. It helps because my speakers are different distances from my viewing position due to the shape of my room. Anyways, Audyssey set my LPF of LFE (I have no clue what that is) at 80HZ THX, should I just leave that there? Lastly, I'm new to the listening modes on the 805 so I'm curious as to which is recommended. Is there an all around recommended listening mode, or are certain modes recommended for different applications, ie. one for movies and games, another for music?? Again, I appreciate all of your guys help, especially you Audiophile. |

I would turn double bass on and let the fronts help out with the bass. There only 4hz off from your sub. It would be an extension of the low line across your soundstage. 80hz is a good starting crossover for your sub.
For listening with your PS3, I suggest Direct or THX Cinema listenmodes. |
