Default Star Blazers Live-Action Movie Trailer Now Online

I put "Star Blazers" in the title because that is what most of the fans here in the U.S. know it as, but the live-action trailer for the upcoming Japanese film "Space Battleship Yamato" is now online. Film comes out in December in Japan, and looks rather awesome to say the least. I have heard the budget was at $22 million and personally if that was the case, they did a pretty incredible job with that money. Not sure how many Star Blazers fans are out there, but if you want to check out the trailer, you can here:

Yeah, this looks amazing. Takashi Yamazaki did awesome work directing Returner, and Yamato looks to have an even larger scale, so I'm super stoked.

Ja I am a fan! See my avatar to the left.
I've been following this for a while and really have high hopes for this. I can't tell how the acting will be but the special effects look good. I hope they have a solid US caption for this come early 2011. I believe they will follow the story arc of the original season 1 cartoon.

Trailer looks interesting. I hope they get some good voice over work done whenever it comes to the US.

Personally, I'd rather have the original track with subtitles (or even without subs).

Very pumped for this. The official movie site for those interested, with lots of trailers:
実写版宇宙戦艦ヤマト

For a $22 million dollar budget, I think it looks pretty amazing. Hopefully we will see it in early 2011 as others have said and I do hope the movie does well enough to spawn a series of films.

Now if they can remaster seasons 1-3 of the dubbed American 'Star Blazers' on put them on blu-ray. That would be sweet!

I heard they remastered the original Japanese versions but they haven't been ported over to the US due to licensing/rights issues.

I just saw this trailer on another site. I felt a permagrin forming over my mouth as I watched it.

I'd be all over a Limited Collector's Edition set of the original series. Maybe something like the Amazon-exclusive Owl Ship version for Watchmen, but the Yamato on top!
