Default Soccer (Football) for PS3? When?!?

Qustion for UK folks - are there any football games for the PS3 over there? I wasn't sure if they made a UEFA Champions League 2006-2007 (newest soccer title that I'm aware of) for the PS3 or not...I find it hard to believe that PS3 launched in Europe without a football title. The XBox 360 version looks nice and I'm envious.

I know that Winning Eleven and FIFA aren't out for certain...

I am not in the UK, but we don't have on in the US. I have been searching, and I don't think any are planned until the Fall of this year.

No FIFA, no Pro Evo (winning elven) and no Uefa games as of yet.
Considering Pro Evo 6 was only out in October i'd say we have a wait yet.
I read Fifa 2008 should hit ps3 around september.. that's not confirmed.

No doubt SCEE's LONDON Studio are working on something too. I'd expect it to look better than Konami's next half-effort, but people love their Pro Evo/Winning Eleven gameplay it seems.

Fifa's a no-brainer, EA know Euro PlayStation fans are largely into the sport.

I wouldn't bother with FIFA etc... they are just pretenders, the only real footballers game is Pro Evo, the game mechanics and physics are incredible.

So my advice, wait for Winning Eleven: Pro Evolution Soccer 2007.

There is no better footy game, Konami know how to do it right and Pro Evo 6 on the PS2 is awesome, I play pretty much everyday and we have tournaments every weekend (for money, £5 entry, winner takes all - usually we have 2 PS2s and about 10 people, everybody plays everybody so about nine 5min games as soon as the 12:30 game is all done on Sky, until the 5:15 game kicks off) beer, pizza, Sky Sports, and Pro Evo - is there a better weekend?

I'd have to agree with you thereMaxPower, Pro Evo is one of the most addictive games EVER.

Me and some mates have tournaments every week, you reall do get into it.
Licenses and graphics dont really come into it when the gameplay is so enjoyable.. not that I think the graphics are bad.

I'd take Pro Evo over FIFA any day.. but I have to say when it's eventually released the PS3 version of FIFA will be the first FIFA game I have bought since 2003.

Sounds like an awesome weekend btw

Quality, along with , I think we PS3 owners are in for a good time with this game.

Can't wait.

It is good to see that Konami doesn't care about X360 owners, PES6 was a disaster on the X360, while still awesome on the PS2, and it will be the same this generation as it is built ground up for the PS3 architecture.

If that rumor is true.. there is no denying pro evo will be the king of all kings when it comes to footy games this year!

Looks like the next Japanese GameWave mag may spill the beans on Winning Eleven 11 on PLAYSTATION 3!

That's actually a Chinese magazine (posted on a Korean site about a Japanese game ) but in any event, for you soccer fans, looks like we will see details about the next Winning Eleven game on June 23rd when Konami shows it off at the World Hobby Fair (think that's what it's called).

If you noticed on the cover of that magazine, it says 18GB - looks like the PS3 version will be the lead platform and get all the goodies although I'd expect a 360 version as well. Hopefully there will be NO PS2 version so the focus is on the next-gen stuff.

Konami also has 3 untitled games on their WHF page in addition to WE11... interesting.

Konami strikes hard! Winning Eleven 2008 coming soon

Not too long after Winning Eleven 2007 hit the shelves, German gaming website Gamefront.de already reports that WE 2008 will be revealed soon.

The series is known to make improvements very slowly, making minor changes every installment (and sometimes backtracking). Some fans often complain, but it's undeniable that Konami's football franchise delivers a great experience.

GameWave magazine lobbed a few details on their cover, and here's the list:

* Game will be released in multiple platforms (even on the PS3)
* Improved defense
* More realistic and changed dribbling animations
* 1 on 1 tackles and offside traps will have better results (controversial calls)
* Better online service, no lag
* Full HD support with 18GB storage

Just like the rumors on WE: Pro Evolution Soccer 6, this latest instalment is said to be at its best on the PS3, according to PlayStation Universe. Retailer Game claims that Konami licensed the entire Premiere League and the German League for its iteration on Sony's console. While still a rumor, it could be confirmed on June 23 when more info is out.

PSU's educated guess says Pro Evolution Soccer 7 (European title) is likely to be released in October, while North America will get it (as Winning Eleven 2008) early 2008.
