Default Do you do this too?

I can't wait for a blu-ray to come out and then I buy it and it sits sealed on my shelf for months. I have 48 sealed movies in my collection right now. With over 1/2, I bought the first day it was released. Here are 5 to name a few.

Dawn of the Dead
The Boondock Saints
The Dark Knight
King Kong
Clerks II

I don't know what is going on. Maybe there are 2 many blus every week to buy that I can't seem to find the time or I am just not in the mood to sit through The Saints again right now. But I was so jacked for it to come out.

Or maybe I am affaid I won't be able to find it later and end up spending a huge amount of cash for it (2 DISC SE OF MUNICH ANYONE?)

I do that sometimes, except it's usually weeks instead of months. I also take it one step farther: when I receive a sealed Blu-ray I can't help but open it, even if I don't end up watching it for weeks

Used to do that, but then I started opening everything immediately after I opened a movie months later to find no actual disc. Since then, I've run into it about 7 times now where I've had: no discs, 2 copies of 2nd disc, or only a digital copy disc.

I'm weird. When I buy new Blu-rays, I HAVE to open them once I get back in the car from the store. I'm just weird like that.

I almost always do just in case Blu-Ray goes under. They are worth more sealed. I learned that with HD-DVD when I sold my 126 titles. I had 65 of them sealed and got good deals on them all.

I don't do that... exactly...

They remain sealed until I watch them, yes. But, I will only buy them if I know that I'll be watching them REAL soon. Otherwise, I wait until I know that I'll have time. This method has saved me some serious coin because I'll often find titles for a cheaper price by the time I get around to purchasing them.

I open them to check the disc is there and then just play a few seconds to make sure its ok then it could sit there for months. I have over 300 discs at this stage and I know for a fact I havent watched half of them. I have to have them but then I dont have time to watch them wasting money when I could pick them up cheaper had I waited a few weeks.

Exactly! I will always wait for the price to drop. Soooo, go ahead and pay 25.00 (or more) for a new release, I will not pay more than twenty, and a lot of my Blu's have been bought for around 15 to 16 bucks. And, I do not open them until I am ready to watch them.

I usually have at least one unopened bluray in my collection since I started. There is nothing better then opening a fresh blu right before watching.

I don't see the reason or point of buying a blu ray if you aren't going to watch it... simply owning it for the sake of owning it doesn't seem like much of a good reason to go in and purchase it to me. That goes for anything really.

Well I tend to be a bargin buyer so I can end up with around 10-20 unwatched ones sitting on my shelf when I don't have the time to watch them... I leave them wrapped untill I watch them, I kinda like unwrapping it when I watch it, gives it that new feel even though it could have been sitting there for a month.

+1. And watch it more than once besides that. And if one goes past the return policy and it doesn't work... Best open and try em folks!

I have a handful I haven't watched yet, but they have all been opened.

With my blu's i'm kind of like Rachel Ray coming back from the grocery store, I unpack the bag(more likely box) and prep everything for when I need it.

I love these descriptive thread titles...

No, I am the complete opposite of you. I open everything I get, and watch/listen as soon as possible.

I used to have that problem and that's when it occurred to me that maybe I shouldn't be buying certain movies. My movie collection in total right now stands at about 250. If I watch 1 movie a day out of my collection (not counting on TV or through NetFlix) then that means that over half of my movies will only be viewed once a year.

ONCE A YEAR!?!? I actually started keeping track of the last date watched (LDW) for my collection and started trading in those movies that I had not watched in the past two years. Doing that has made me buy less blind buys and suddenly movies like "National Lampoon's Dorm Daze" have been weeded out of my collection.
