France Total Recall (France)

I recently bought Total Recall here in France as part of a Fnac deal.
I'll save you my life's story and get straight to the point.

As some of you might know, the French BD release for Total Recall was edited and distributed by the renowned StudioCanal.

The release is Region AB and includes a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 English track (as well as French, Brasilian and German DTS-HD 5.1 tracks).
There's tons of subs to choose from and this release is really made to be watched worldwide.
Given the low price of the item, I'd say it's really worth importing.

So yeah, thre's my two cents.

It sounds like a port of the previously released U.K. version. That was the best available BD of this movie so far.

I reckon it is as well, given the high level of languages to choose from.
I'm sorry for making another topic regarding this, I just thought the UK release was region locked to B.

How does the Picture Quality compare to the U.S. Lionsgate version?

Well the release uses StudioCanal's master and to be honest, they don't come any better than from StudioCanal.

From what i heard and read, this studio canal's version is pretty bad. All said it didn't worth an upgrade.
So maybe guys, you should stick to your dvd waiting a better transfer.

Well, what you've heard and read is incorrect. The Studio Canal version not only obliterates the DVD, but that crap US release as well.

The Studio Canal BD is definitely better than the current U.S. Blu-ray. Lossless audio and a video encode with VC-1. It was a port of their HD DVD version of the movie though, so at some point this movie will get an even better looking BD. I have also seen some questions as to whether the Studio Canal version is misframed slightly.

The info above is correct - currently, Studio Canal's presentation is indeed the best one on the market. This being said, it isn't sourced from a fully restored master. With other words, more than likely, there will be a better presentation of this film in the future.
