Default Ever annoyed by your TV's power light?

For both my Plasma and bedroom LCD, the power light was getting to be annoying. So I decided to cover them up with some black electrical tape. Simply cut a little square out and cover the little light.

Cant tell you how annoying it was to watch a movie with this bright red or green light glaring at me. Thought I would share this little tip with you guys. Does anybody else do this too??

Since the TV's are black, and the electrical tape is black you cannot notice it at all. Blends in perfectly.

Enjoy!

Default Blue Light Special

My Samsung has this blue light at the bottom of the screen, it doesn't bother me but you can turn it off with the remote if you want.

My Sony XBR4 has a white illuminated logo at the bottom of the 'floating glass' bezel, along with a green power light. There are also lights for standby mode and for when the display is shut down on the timer mode. I like the logo lit up, because it's actually illuminated by light passing through the clear plastic from above. It's a really nice touch.

When I first got my TV, I didn't have a dedicated stand for it. I turned the white Sony logo off (you can do it in the TV settings menu) because my center channel sat partially in front of the TV at that time. No sense in illuminating the logo if it wasn't able to be seen. As soon as I got a stand, on it went!

I have heard several people say they prefer equipment displays to be shut off as well. I think my Sony BDP-S350 player has the option to turn the unit's display completely off. I'd imagine that a totally dark look can have a really nice appeal, especially when watching at night or in a completely darkened room.

Here's a gallery screenshot showing what my TV looks like when on, at night:

Rob J, that Sony Logo actually looks pretty cool illuminated.

But that green power light would get on my nerves.

Maybe im just overly sensitive to these tiny lights?!!

I have an XBR4 as well and I don't mind the logo or the lights since they are not too bright. When I first got the set, I thought I would find the logo to be annoying and turn it off, but I just got used to it.

However, there is a devil of a bright light on the cable box that is definitely going to get taped. It practically blinds me whenever I look at the time display! Thanks for the tip Crackinhedz.

Yeah, I've done the black electrical tape thing for a while now, to cover up TV power lights, receiver power light, etc.

I hate all these little lights, I have all sorts of things stuck over stuff. The problem with black tape is that it completely blocks the light, whereas with some stuff I do want to be able to see whether it's on or off. For the TV, no debate, I want it completely blocked, and I'm lucky that my Samsung LCD was designed by someone with a brain, so it has a red light on when it is off, which simply goes off when the TV is on, perfect!

For my PS3, though, I have a cunningly positioned black clipboard in front of it, which blocks the lights out of my field of view, but I can still see the lights if I really want to.

My Vizio, like the Sony up there, lights up its logo. It's pretty cool looking and I don't find it distracting at all, plus it's the only light on the whole thing.

I have the option to turn the lights on the front of the tv off and that's what I have done. It's annoying to have a little light on when the room is totally dark.

Mine has never bothered me. Besides its to small to notice anyways. I used to think that it would have been cool to have the Sony logo on my tv light up but I know to me that would have been a distraction.
