Gaping plot hole in Island

I thought it was a very good movie and want it on blu at some point but I thought near the end there was a huge plot hole. They were going to use the lottery to kill all the "infected" agnates but what happens when the friends that were left behind notice that the new "survivors" look exactly like their old friends? Guess this is why Michael Bay's not exactly known for making movies that make you think.
