Default PSP survey hints at possible upcoming features

http://www.pspfanboy.com/2009/01/15/...st-survey-may/

An ESPN subscription for your handheld? How about Purple PSP units? These are just some of the ideas being thrown around in Sony's latest survey regarding PSP. While surveys are never an indication of what is truly in the works, they're usually more of an indication of what companies are open to pursuing if interest be high enough and to test if consumers are digging the competition.

With that in mind, it's not surprising to hear that one of the questions in the survey asked: How likely would you be to buy a new PSP if the version had... followed by such options as Bluetooth, touch screens and an internal hard drive. iPhone much? The survey also asked about interest in regards to bringing other PlayStation Network features over to the PSP such as Trophies, Home and Friend's Lists. The past hasn't been forgotten either, it seems Sony is still gauging interest for the GPS and TV Turner peripheral as well.

Now that we know a bit about some of the thoughts Sony might be playing around with, it's a bit saddening to think that some of this -- if not most, might never come true. Which features do you think Sony should focus on? While you mull that over, have a look at a bit more of the survey after the break. We think you'll find it most interesting.

I think there needs to be a major update the the PSP. Let's drop the old model with the version 3000 and go to a PSP2. We need cell phone access and touchscreen with applications from the PS store. Stop remaking the same old product and start getting into the race.

sorry but i disagree my PSP is a game machine i have a cell phone already .. once you start adding too many functions then those functions get shoddy id rather have a nice nig internal HDD on it .. maybe even touch screen ( so long as it gets better implementation than most DS games do )
but i would not buy a new PSP if it incorporated phone functions .. and no i dont consider that skype really a phone function ..

Just make it easier to put movies on the PSP and I would be happy. I want to be able to put digital downloads on my PSP w/o having to convert them.

I would kinda like a PSP phone too. Don't get me wrong, the PSP would need a lot of upgrades, but I don't see that far a gap between the PSP and the Iphone.

But then again while I'm tech savy, I'm also tech lazy. There's a reason why I don't post here much from home compared to work - when I'm home I'd rather not be trapped in my home office.

Whoever can give me the easiest thing to stay link in portably anywhere so I can surf, type, etc will win my money (assuming they are on the verizon network ). My blackberry isn't exactly how I want to check mail and surf if I can avoid it. Now a PSP phone that had everything we have now, a touch screen (and maybe bigger screen), can link into my home network and ps3 easily and plays games and movies? (And uses the easy to navigate XMB?) - Sold.

Not saying everyone should have to get a phone version - but with the right added pieces I'd much rather buy that than an Iphone.

Touch screen, eh?

Matches with the 4.3" 640x360 OLED touch screen Sony are putting into production later this month! Might be too expensive to use in the PSP though so it might be a while until they integrate it...

I think the one with the highest votes happens as they have only so much development time and testing, personally black is the color I would prefer.. I don't want a green one like I had to have for my game boy..

well see my thread in offtopic. it seems sony says no to a psp phone anyways. but you're crazy for not liking touchscreen. me..i couldn't have an all touchscreen phone because as of yet..no phone has done it well enough.

but yeah..that would be quite annoying to be in a game and get that kind of phone call

When the human body touches a screen it looks nasty leaves residue from the oil in your hands.. you put a screen on it, and I physically cannot handle screens on anything but thats me.. protective screens always bother me...

Default rumor ;)

http://kotaku.com/5145020/psp-to-be-...cording-device

Quote:
In what appears to be a recent Sony survey, the company apparently asked users several questions and to rate their answers on a scale of 1 - 6 with 1 being "Not Appealing" and 6 being "Very Appealing."

Questions nineteen and twenty were as follows:

19. If you could make one modification to the PSP system, what would you like to see?

20. The following statements concern the way you would like a portable device to interact with a console. Rank these statements based on their appeal to you. (1 = Not Appealing, 6 = Very Appealing)

Use the device to complete side missions for console games (unlocakables, etc.).

Transfer media (music/pictures/video) wirelessly from the console to the device (broadcast television, new levels for games).

Use the device WHILE PLAYING the console game as an addition weapon/utility to help the gameplay (second player option, radar for incoming enemies, etc.).

Record console gameplay for display on the device (showing off your high scores ore "cool moves" to friends).
my answers..
