I figured this post would get more eyes in the International room...
I'm in NYC: does anyone know of a UK-based retailer that will ship a Blu-Ray player (Region-B) into the US? I've found some great deals on them on various websites, but when it comes time to check out, I get the dreaded "only available for shipping within the UK" message. Help! Kirby |

If you can find an LGBH200, they're really expensive. And I've read that the hack only makes SD-DVD playback region-free, not BD playback. It'd be easier to spend about $200-250 and import a player from the UK, where the Panasonic BD35 is running only about 170GBP.
So I'm still on the hunt for a UK-based retailer that will ship to the US... |

These players on ebay are running $600-700. Likewise, modified US players run in the $500-800 range.
Amazon UK won't let you import blu-ray players. You get the "can only ship within the UK" message when you try to check out. That's why I'm looking for a UK-based (or other EU-based) retailer who will ship a Blu-Ray player to the US. Kirby |

dont give up man, just ask a UK member who has high feedback (if it makes u feel safer) to do u a favor, in return perhaps u give them like a amazon gc token of appreciation for receiving it and then mailing it.
If I were you id go to the SteelBook forum as alot of us guys are always doing group buys and such of steels with other members from other countries and sending stuff back and forth ... One might be nice enough to do it for you so long as you basically send them an amazon.co.uk gift card this way they can purchase it without having ot use their CC or something. |

1. The LG-BH200 is indeed region-free for BOTH dvd and BD (after software modification with remote control)
2. The prices in the UK seem cheaper now because of the currency-rate at the moment, but prices are rising there every day, so act quickly. 3. For comparison, don't forget the huge shipping costs (and insurance) and the much higher V.A.T. 4. In the US, you can order a hardware modified BD-player from JVBDigital.com, because this (Dutch) company ships for free(!) within the US. They also sell the modification chips separately if you like to DIY. Thirdly, you can buy a cheap BD-player yourself and ship it to them, so that they will install the chip for you (and ship it back for free). If you compare all these options with the ones mentioned here above (and take the warranty and possible additional future shipping fees into concern), you might want to check option 1. and 4. before starting to import yourself. Just my 0.02, of course. Anyway, good luck (and wisdom) ![]() |

I've been looking at doing the same so I know the pain in butt the whole thing can be. After talking to Pro-B, I learned the easiest thing would probably be to import a UK PS3 because apparently it has an internal voltage converter so that all you need is to buy a US-compatible plug and that's it. I personally am leaning toward a SA player though just because I have a PS3 already and a good SA is cheaper. Luckily, I have a couple friends that live in the UK that I can have Amazon ship it to and then they just ship it on to me. The cool thing is, as far as I can tell, even if you have Amazon ship it to the UK, if you pay with a U.S. credit card, they still take the V.A.T. off and Amazon UK usually has free shipping within the UK so all I really have to pay is the cost of the player, minus V.A.T. and then the cost of shipping to the U.S. Only problem is with a SA player, I'd need to buy a quality voltage step-down converter and I'm not sure I'm comfortable with using one of those permanently. Apparently the Dutch Sony BDP-350 can handle 110/120 internally as well but I can't find any place that sells it online.

If you can find an LG, there is a way to change between Region A and Region B. If you are able to find one at a fair price, that is really the best option.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-BDPS350...7610543&sr=1-2 This place seems to be selling a Used German Sony 350 and apparently ship internationally. You could email them to see that is Region B and maybe try that. |

Is there any other players that does not have the voltage issues? I can also get it sent from the UK privately but I would rather have a 110/220 switch on the player.

It has been reported about the Panasonic's that although the US- and the EU-players mention 115V or 230V respectively, they're suppose to have the same power converter inside which accepts the entire range (110-240V); just like laptops, ect. You'll only need another plug. Of course, it can't hurt to double-check this with one of the modding companies (like BluRayMods.com).
