Default Superbit faded out?

I was wondering did Superbit DVDs fade out, casue i remember my dad buying them and saying, son this is the future of home enetertainment. Since i havent seen any even before blu was out, was it just a quick phase or didnt really sell so they canceled them or something else?

They are what you call Blu-rays now. And everybody other Company decided to join in. Don't know if that's the reason why or not. But when you look at the back of every Sony BR case they have all of the 7 Country subtitles just like they had with Superbit.

Plus these were $29.99 when you could get a regular DVD for $19.99 or even when they were $9. Example of that would be The Fifth Element, and Snatch. Among others

All they were were higher-bitrate encodes. Eventually, everyone was doing it, and placing the extras on a second disc.

Yeah that also. Then you saw Star Wars and Lord of the Rings with higher bit rate than those

You can buy the remaining Superbit's pretty cheaply at Fry's. They had Cliffhanger for about $5.00 the other day.
