are you referring to Amazon.com or a seller via Amazon Marketplace?

yeah that's the marketplace. that means people are selling their own copies in an e-bay style fashion. shipping for movies is 2.98 standard (you can pay more for expedited). pay close attention to each seller's listing descriptions. i would only buy one from a seller who has a strong feedback rating (i generally only buy from someone rated 95% or above but that can vary depending on the number of actual ratings) and lists a description along the lines of "brand new, factory sealed" etc. someone may post a NEW item that has been opened but never watched, therefore they are calling it New even though the shrink wrap has been removed.

i believe you can only pay for these with an actual credit card/pay pal account but i may be wrong. seeing as how credit card gift cards are essentially the same thing as cash, you may very well be able to use them.

here's what's listed on amazon.com for acceptable payment. not sure if this is covered on the marketplace too tho:

Quote:
Which cards can you use on Amazon.com? We accept the following cards as payment for your orders:

* Visa (including the Amazon.com Visa Card)
* MasterCard/EuroCard
* Discover Network
* American Express
* Diner's Club (U.S. billing addresses only)
* JCB
* Visa or MasterCard check cards or ATM cards
* Visa, MasterCard, or American Express gift cards
* Amazon Credit Account

You can use debit, check, and gift cards issued by the companies above in addition to their standard credit cards. For example, if you're paying with a Visa Check Card please select Visa from the drop-down menu on the order form when indicating the card type.
Similarly, if you're paying with a EuroCard or MasterMoney Card, select MasterCard.

I particularly like when someone posts a Used copy, and in the info states "disc only. no case"

I'm not sure how they came to possess just the BD disc, without a case, but I'm pretty sure it starts with s-t, and ends with o-l-e-n.

I know. I should have put a "/sarcasm" at the end of my post just to clarify...but then you lose the ambiguity.

I have had a lot success with Amazon purchases, so I'd say to the OP: go for it! I only buy "brand new," "sealed," etc. when it comes to Blu-rays. I see a "like new" and I pass right on by, at least that's what I've done so far. I'm sure in time I'll eventually buy a used one, but it hasn't happened yet.

gotya

i frequently buy used ones, i just really look into the feedback and pay very close attention to the description (plus sometimes email the seller directly to confirm what i'm getting). i've only encountered 1 problem in the 4 years i've been ordering off the marketplace.
