Ugh, I would suggest reading up a bit on wireless routers. As far as that goes, you only need to get a Wireless G router, since the PS3 and the 360 use G and not N.

To use the 360 wirelessly, you'll need to buy the 360 wireless adapter. It's not cheap- it's about $100. If you're unable to wire the 360 directly, then wireless is the way to go. The PS3 is already set up with a wireless modem, so no extra hardware is required.

The Linksys Wireless G router is easy to use, it's not too expensive, and it works well. It's about $49.99. Netgear makes a good router too, but I think the Linksys' "Secure Easy Setup" may be right up your alley.

All N routers can also run in G mode as well, so you can get an N router. The best and cheapest solution is to buy 2 WRT54G linksys routers from ebay, slap Tomato on the primary and DD-WRT on the secondary. Set the DD-WRT to Access Point mode and use it as an AP in the other room.

Hundreds of tutorials are available for this model and these versions of firmware. I reccomend the V5 models but get whichever model is cheapest on ebay.

Here is a link to xbox 360's wireless router page. These are the compatible routers for the system. From what I've found, pre-N may work but will not increase speed as the 360 is not N compatible. Personally don't know if the N will work period but, I assume that the others that have posted are knowledgable. The link also has a quick pull down list for incompatible routers, bridges, and gateways. I believe both systems have good paperwork when it comes to setting up your system but, you can also find this info on the respective websites. It's setting up the wireless router itself that may be a bit complex but, if done properly, the setup of additional wireless units is incredibly easy by picking your networks name and entering the password.

True, but the N routers are more expensive and if you're not going to use it anyway....

Also, trying to rig something up instead of just buying the wireless device for the 360 can be pretty complicated for some folks. I don't mess with it personally.

I agree with the N comment, but as far as complications? saving almost $100-$150 is worth complications for most people. Luckly we have the internet, so there is always someone or some webpage to assist. Typically the more money I save, the more chance I take at complications. This is a easy complication and very cheap (these routers were selling for $20) just last week.
