Default 12 Rounds in theatres March 27, 2009

Quote:
Detective Danny Fisher (John Cena) is about to have the worst day of his life. A nearly untraceable internationally-known terrorist named Miles Jackson (Aidan Gillen) has kidnapped his girlfriend Molly Porter (Ashley Scott) and forced him into "12 Rounds" of dangerous games carefully plotted throughout the streets of New Orleans. Danny struggles to keep focus while the obvious ticking clocks and crude consequences that accompany each one of these "rounds" do their best to derail him from rescuing the love of his life before it's too late.
Forget the fact that the leading role is a wrestler or that WWE is trying to make another movie, is anyone here seriously interested in watching this movie?

Yes, but currently my plan is to blind buy the blu-ray. I was actually really entertained by "The Marine" so I'm willing to give this a shot. At the very least, the premise for the plot (while unoriginal) should provide some intense action sequences.

Plus I've already convinced my girl to see Crank 2, this would just be adrenaline overload for her...

Agreed.

John Cena does not an actor make. His "he broke out of prison and noone bothered to tell me!" was cringe worthy.

I forget where the quote was but Cena said last week if he won an Oscar he wouldn't leave WWE.

Whoever wrote the article had a funny response to that line, understandably so. He was funny on Attack of the Show on Tuesday, he seems like a good face for WWE to turn to but not so much for Hollywood.

If you can sit through the pain of john cena's acting it will look like you have been through 12 rounds.

Actually Cena is pretty decent here. But what the film needed to succeed was more of his vulnerability on his part. Having his kinda body doesn't help but if he was a lil bit skinny, it would have worked.

The film's villain was okay in the flashback scene but when it got to the actual ride itself, he fizzled. Lack of screen prescence unlike Dennis Hopper. Yes, some moments snaps you right back to Speed.

What was most damaging about the movie was the script. After the second round, the jig was up. I could tell how the film worked but I was surprised that the filmmakers didn't make it even more interesting by shaking it up a bit. They should have made it an even playing field even though it's all according to plan.

By the way, I didn't pay to see the movie.

after the atrocity that was "The Marine", I'm gonna stay away from John Cena for a while. I don't think he deserves a film career, I wanna see a new action movie with Johnny Messner

I'm thinking this won't make it past 2 rounds (weeks) at the box office. I'm mean their promoting as from the guys who brought you Die Hard 2, the worst in the series and Speed, another mediocre action flick.

Bad wrestler, bad actor. Just my opinion. He seems like a cool guy. I just can't see what the WWE and whatever movie studio is involved with this sees in him. I don't know of any wrestler who has made a movie anywhere near "Oscar worthy".

I actually enjoyed this movie, but I didn't go in expecting oscar gold either. To enjoy it, I think you have to watch it for camp and explosions, but Cena was no where near as bad as in the Marine although there are the obligatory "tracking" shots of him running at full speed to different places.
