Default Best way to setup my Yamaha HTR6150

My PS3 is connect to my receiver, I was wondering which will be the best sound option on my receiver

My PS3 will be set in LPCM 5.1

In my receiver I have these options :

Cinema : Dramatic
Cinema : Spacious
2 channel stereo
7 channel stereo
2 channel enhancer
7 channel enhancer
Game mode
TV Sports
Straight

Does the Straight mode send the audio straight from my ps3 to my speaker and will be the best option?

Try the different modes and decide which you prefer. It's your room, your gear and your ears.

On my VX-R3800 remote, though, there's a 'surround decode' button that plays the straight PCM - all the other surround modes are adding some amount of DSP effect to the signal. Check the manual.

The way you are set up you have the PS3 doing the decoding and sending it via HDMI. The receiver is simply taking the decoded material and reproducing it.

Set it to straight.

Don't meen to hijack your 6150 thread but I have a question / problem with my 6140.

PS3 hooked up to amp via HDMI using PCM. I have the amp set to straight.

All is well with Blu's and DVD's with DTS or 5.1 tracks but when I play my old T.V. show DVD's such as Emergency or Columbo with stereo 2.0 tracks the sound keeps cutting out.

Can't figure out what is causing the problem. I hooked an up converting dvd player to the amp and it is playing the disks fine.

Any insight would be apreciated.

Riko
