Samsung make the LCD panels for sony tv's. The link for the samsung you got mixed up, if you are looking at the newest samsung model #'s, that will be better then the older sony. That sony XBR2/3 is last years tec. & you would have to wait until Oct. when sony releases their XBR line tv's for this year.

hang on lets correct some mis information there. SAMSUNG DO NOT MAKE LCD PANELS FOR SONY !!

There is a joint venture company called S-LCD equally owned by Sony and Samsung. this factory produces panels for both of them, each company has its own QA team at the S-LCD factory. After SONY QA certifies the panels they are shipped to the SONY assembly plants where SONY adds their own technology to it like the bravia engine to drive the panel and its assembled into the bravia TV etc ..

Because S-LCD is located in Korea it is often thought that its samsung making the panels for Sony but its not true.

oh and I would go for the BRAVIA.

Sony is an electronics company famous and focused on Audio and visual entertainment products. They live it, breathe it, and invent it.

Unlike Samsung or LG who make washing machines, fridges and microwaves amongst other appliances.

cheers

I went to every store within 50miles of me looking at tv's and I'd have to say hands down the 46" XBR3 that I bought is definetly the winner. I was going to get the 1080P Pioneer Plasma, but since I play a lot of games, it wasn't an option. You won't regret the BRAVIA!

As you might be working on a limited budget, judging from the links you proposed... if you have any extra dough, I'd get the 40" XBR2. Its the one with the glass around the tv, a bit different than the Bravia in your link, but it's also 1080P.
