I have a fear that they are just going to release all the anamorphic DVD versions of Chow's movies on blu-ray and skip the letterboxed ones (the ones that really need the upgrade)...

Quality of Mei Ah's back catalogue is so inconsistent. I bought Hard-Boiled & Full Contact a few years ago & its hilarious how they plaster "HD Remastered" on the DVD box but the transfers looked like birdshit. But then I bought a few of their remastered Jet Li titles (Black Mask, Kung Fu Cult Master, The Enforcer) and those actually look OK. it boggles my mind lol.

BTW, K&R now has the rights to China Star Ent.'s back catalogue (of which Sixty Million Dollar Man & Forbidden City Cop are a part of) so theres a chance we may get the super-elusive 'Once Upon A Time In China & America' on Blu.

and even more super elusive title which i believe falls into China Star's back catalogue would be Blade of Fury. that would be awesome to own on blu.

Very weird movie, I watched this today (one with a loose translation) and I had trouble making sense on what type of movie it was And I'm used to Kung Fu Hustle & Shaolin Soccer

I kinda enjoyed but not sure if its bluray worthy, the special effects were pretty bad though (but probably intentional or budget related) - very 80s

You watched this on old DVD or on this new blu-ray? If you watched this new blu-ray, how was the video/audio and English subtitle quality?

This movie is an example of Chow's mo lei tau (nonsense) comedies, lots of random parodys and fast dialogue.

This movie hasn't aged very well and it's probably one of my least favorites out of all of his movies but i'll probably end up getting it when the price is right.

Do you think if this new blu-ray has new English subtitles, the movie may seem better?

A little better but I don't think it'd be enough to put on my "highly recommended" Chow movies. Perhaps if the CG complimented it more as well
