Default Need Opions in tough spot

Well folks I'm in a bad spot but a good spot I have 1800.00 to play with and I'm looking to upgrading and add to my HTS, so here's what I have now, Sony rear projection LCD 1080i 44 inch TV with a Yamaha 663 (2 hdmi inputs) and a panny dmp 30 and a X box 360 which I love. Here's two different options I have so please tell me what you guys think. First option Yamaha 1900(4 hdmi inputs and 130 per channel ) and yes I would use all four hdmi inputs, ps3 kill zone 2 and metal gear solid 4. Here's my other option Samsung 650 or 750 or 850 1080p tv but I would have to buy a new TV stand

I think you have a great receiver, but if you need more HDMI inputs I can understand.

What kind of speakers do you have? That would be my first choice unless you have good speakers already.

Then id look into a new TV. The samsungs you are looking at are nice. As for which model to go with? I don;t know much about them to give that advice.

But I will say...buy online. You'll get more for your money.

I would say a 1080p TV. But it's your money.

If you want more power for your 70's why not just get an external amp like an Emotiva UPA 7 and a PS3? :: seems like a good deal to me

Judging by your gallery, your speakers look good, so I'd get a new TV hands down if I were you. Pick up an HDMI switcher if you need one rather than get a new receiver just for more HDMI ports.

Looks like you have good speakers already. If I were you I would upgrade the TV...Go with a 52" or larger to compliment the rest of your system

With your receiver and speakers, I would say go with the 1080p TV. It would definitely ratchet up the experience!

I'm always pushing the audio side..... but I gotta agree with the masses...... get an HDMI switcher and a new T.V..... If you really want better audio, I think an external amp would be a better move rather than another receiver....

I agree with the tv ! Beta's idea of a sep. amp would be the way to improve the sound ! The speakers are great !!!

I gotta follow the crowd and say get a bigger and better TV. I think that will give you the most satisfaction at this point. Going to the next level in sound will probably cost you much more and you will probably do it in phases, so the end result will be further down the road whereas the upgrade of a TV will be readily apparent the first day you turn it on.

Yes get a better TV. Those Samsungs are really nice I actually want to get the 950 once I find some money. I would at least get the 750. If I am not mistaken I believe that is where they truly hit 120hz and a few other nice features. If you wanna upgrade your audio I would get an external amp and an HDMI switcher. The receiver you have is fine.

Both of those are great TV's. Personally, I would skip the 750 if that is what you are looking at and go with the 650 to save money. The 750 has some extra features, but I don't think they're worth the extra cost over the 650. The 650 will give you the exact same picture since its basically the same TV. Just my opinion. Of course the 950 is the way to go if you can afford it, but you should also consider the new LED backlit LG since its $2000 shipped on Amazon. Check Sound and Vision for their review. There is also a thread over at avsforum on this set.

i would recommend skipping the hdmi switcher though. seems a little stupid to have a receiver with two hdmi's, a new t.v with four hdmi's.....then to have a stand alone switcher on top????

You should really do some research on 120 Hz before you buy. I would strongly urge you to avoid 120 Hz right now...
