Default Classic films

I have just ordered Quo vadis, cant wait to watch it. The review on bluray.com seemed quite good. It's a shame they had no screenshots. Im also awaiting the release of the robe in the uk. That also looks like its going to be good. I was wondering when the following will be released on bluray: El Cid, cleopatra, ben hur, spaticus and fall of the empire!? Is any one else a fan of these?

I would also like a better version of a bridge too far to be released.

The bad news is that all three of these are now owned by the Weinsteins, which means you might have a nice long wait for Blu.

Just remember to temper your expectations a bit with some of these older films. Sometimes they will feel old and the acting may not be as up to snuff as you might expect. I personally did not care for Quo Vadis but hopefully you will.

FYI - I always recommened renting movies first before buying them because tastes are different and a few good reviews here doesnt mean any title is a slam-dunk. Caveat Emptor.

I know what you mean by not hoping for a super duper release of an old film on bluray. The latest clasisic film I purchsed was zulu, and i was quite shocked by the quality and the colour of the film. And thats 30 years old.

I dont expect these films to be of the standard of the new james bond films or transformers. But personally I find the colours and detail of these old films to be quite refreshing. It's almost like watching them again for the first time. Watching them is kind of like a near cinema experience.

But I shall be patient with some of the release dates! ;-)
