Sorry if there is already a thread on the exact same thing, didn't see one:
But I saw a 'Rambo'-box with the 4 films in it. Now I was wondering, would those be like the same discs or transfers as any other BD-release? Such as the box with the first 3 films or the separate releases. So basically, how can they be compared to the ones rated on this website? Because I do not see the same box, unless I overlooked it. Which is strange, because I thought this site would have all of them. Especially when already having so many other releases of 'Rambo'-films on here. Anyway, is this specific box any good and should I get it? On the other hand, I also saw there will be a 5th one out. So maybe I might get the box with the first 3 and the "modern" ones together later? Then again, there just might even be a 6th later on, so it could be a long wait to get 3 by 3. Unfortunately I missed 'Rambo' at the cinema, so I couldn't watch it before the 5th if I'd have to wait to get it. :\ |

Well, here you go:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Rambo-Ultima...9227616&sr=1-1 I forgot to say that this is probably a UK-release, seeing the rating-logos on the packaging. But I also couldn't find it on the .com/US-site of Amazon. Well, most I could find is this one: http://www.amazon.com/Rambo-Blu-ray/...227584&sr=1-11 Which is only sold for a ridiculous price by a seller in Austria... And the description from Amazon says "this item has been discontinued by the manufacturer". However, the .co.uk-site this sells it officially. It's only about 18 pounds, maybe I should buy it out of principle? Then again, I'm not sure what to think of this "unknown" box, at least on this website curiously enough, and the price for FOUR BD-films. Once again, a really strange case... why do I always run into these things?... Last edited by Damage Inc.; 04-08-2009 at 10:02 PM. |

For what I've been told, for example with the US-version of 'Iron Man' I got recently, that sóme NTSC-bonus-material might not work correctly. But that's just compatibility-stuff, I live in B anyway. :P I don't think it would affect quality, unless... That's another topic, but I wonder if you'd see a difference in the framerate of 25 and 30. But that shouldn't be an issue since a film should look one specific way. Hopefully that is consistent between NTSC and PAL... Anyway, I'll try and find some more information about this specific box then. |

Well, I'm not sure if it's comparable to games. But there is this typical difference between say 25 and 30 and 35. Being 25 is tiresome and "choppy" and 30-35 and above is smooth. Again, that could just be for 3D-software-stuff... It's just strange to find that there are different framerates in regions. Since filmmakers use specific framerates to start with to get a specific effect or atmosphere. |

Hence the cluttered packaging usually. I don't care thát much, but I really don't like how they did it. But yeah... I like to find these alternative ones. ![]() |

The UK Rambo Collection does include all four films, however, Optimum Home Entertainment does not include any of the extras for First Blood, First Blood Part II,, and Rambo III from the US release. Instead, Optimum includes on all three the same 8min interview with Sylvester Stallone. These BDs are Region A & B. Rambo (2008) is the same Sony UK BD sold by itself, so its the only Rambo film to have Dolby TrueHD audio. Most of the extras from the US release are present here except BD-Live and the digital copy disc. This BD is locked for Region B.
First Blood UK is a VC-1 video encode with DTS-HD Master Audio English 5.1. The US BD is an AVC MPEG-4 video encode with DTS-HD High Resolution English 6.1 English. First Blood Part II and Rambo III US & UK both feature VC-1 video encodes with DTS-HD Master Audio English 5.1 tracks. Rambo (2008) US & UK both have AVC MPEG-4 video encodes but the US BD has DTS-HD MA English 7.1 while the UK has Dolby TrueHD English 5.1. |

And of course then for the US-versions it would mean the 3-pack... Too bad about the extras too, these films are júst some I'd like to see more about. I guess I might just go for the "3-pack" and get a nice version of 'Rambo' separately before the 5th. By the way, which video-coding do you want, VC-1 or AVC MPEG-4? I do not know all the differences yet, but my guess is AVC MPEG-4... Or do the qualities just "depend"? Last edited by Damage Inc.; 04-09-2009 at 02:53 AM. |

It is the same as the ones released. The only difference is that all 3 Blu-Ray boxes with the discs are inside of it. Sliding case. ![]() It's an awesome box set to have. |

Especially since the "4-pack" is apparently not as full as the "3-pack". I'm not sure about the "3-pack" though, but it seems a nice one. ![]() But as for the Director's Cut, I guess he would make it worth while doing it himself right? I mean, making it significantly longer and some actual significant material, I would think. Last edited by Damage Inc.; 04-09-2009 at 12:52 PM. |

I saw mention of Rambo Director's Cut, does anyone know how far along Stallone is with it?
Edit: Rambo - The Ultimate Blu-Ray Collection is £17.98 from Amazon instead of £69.99... just for those interested in buying it ![]() Last edited by MacLover; 04-10-2009 at 12:58 AM. |
