why do these show up as being released Aug 03 when I picked these up long time ago? are these remastered or something?

they have been re-released in a blu-ray DVD combo pack.

MGM just did a whole batch of BD/DVD combos including

Escape from New York
Never Say Never Again
Spaceballs
Face Off

these releases have different UPC codes and therefore are considered a separate product from the original "blu-ray only release" therefore they receive their own release date on the website

FYI:

If the Face Off being discussed is the John Travolta and Nicolas Cage movie then that is Paramount (in the US and Canada) and not Fox.

Spaceballs has always been a combo release though... Face/Off is NOT & will not be. Honestly, this is something common with amazon.ca, its just a new price point or cover art change.

Currently the "new release" of Face/Off is the same price as the previous release's price of $24.49 on amz.ca

Then maybe its the cover art. Did the previous edition have french printed on it?

Amazon.ca used to only sell the US version.

Yeah, I remember Paramount's first releases in Canada had English-only packaging, and after they became HD DVD exclusive and then back to Blu-ray I saw Disturbia with a new bilingual packaging. Seems like it took a while for Face Off.

Nah the Canadian version always had bilingual packaging. Like I said it is just that amazon.ca never sold the Canadian version and suddenly added it so they must have just listed it as a new release when they added it.

That was in June and they still didn't have a listing beyond the import and as you can see by the picture in the first post it is bilingual. Not sure about Spaceballs though since I had never checked that.
