Default Subwoofer "Rattling" Across Floor/Pad

I tried doing a search but couldn't find what I'm looking for... maybe I'm not using the right words to describe it.

I have a fairly heavy sub... and I run it a little hot. I have hardwood floors and originally used spikes/discs. But during really intensive bass sessions, I could hear the sub rattling along the floor, eventually causing the subwoofer/spikes/discs to slide along the floor.

Definitely a buzzkill... so I ordered the Auralex Subdude. Problem solved! No more ugly rattling. The sub is on the Subdude... completely flat (no spikes used).

But now I noticed that during intensive bass sessions, the sub kinda makes a wobbly noise... and I notice that the sub has shifted position on the Subdude. Being paranoid it would eventually move itself off the pad, I reposition every now and then.

Any ideas/suggestions? If I lean onto the sub doing those heavy LFE scenes, it sounds fine. Is my sub not 'heavy' enough? Should I use spikes with with the Subdude?

I was tempted to use some leftover BlueTac I have to kinda hold the sub and Subdude together.

I use spikes on my gramma, but it is a downfiring sub and it still needs the seperation. I would try using the spikes on it before doing something more drastic.

What kind of sub? Without the spikes, are there any "feet"? If not, put the spikes back on I'd say.

I'd say that with what you've done, you've probably exhausted your options. Have you thought about a piece of carpet under it? I'm not sure if that would be better than the subdude thing that you mentioned.

Here's what I did. I replaced the spikes iwth these. They worked beautifully. They give the necessary separation without affecting the sound. My wife told me I'd be looking at the death penalty if I dented her hardwood floors.

Is the floor where the sub is, even? Or is there some kind of "dip" or "bow" in the wood under it, where it could potentially wobble, especially in the heavier LFE scenes? This might explain why it still moves despite have the subdude... Just grasping at straws.....

There is no feet on the bottom once I removed the spikes to put it onto the Subdude.

I'm wondering if spikes would just make the entire sub+subdude move across my hardwood floor... haha... but that's better than just the sub coming off.

The floor MAY be a lil uneven though... nothing I can do about it.

I think I'll try a lil Blutack first... and if no luck... I'll go w/the spikes.

I mean put the spikes back on the sub then put it w/ spikes on the Subdude.

I'd be really shocked if the sub + Subdude crawls.

I think the addition of the spikes may help greatly here, but it couldn't hurt to try the Blutack first.....

I have wood floor and hate spikes. I added these 4" legs from Home Depot on both of my cylindrical Hsu subs and put them on 6" DIY Grampa risers. It gave me approximately an additional 10dB of outputs.

so you've already got the sub-dude, and now you need to have your sub grasp the decoupler a little more. Spikes would be fine to get ahold of the decoupler to hold it in place. If your sub moves around a lot, then quite honestly, so may have the gain turned up to high. I have virtually no legs attached to my sub (sits on a GRAMPA), and it hits hard, very hard, and it doesn't move at all. But that is the way I calibrated it...very carefully, and I'm not even done yet. To sum up, your sub should not be moving all over the room if it's set up correctly. The only alternative to what I've just said is that maybe your floors are waxed and cleaned so glossy that just about anything can slide around! If that where the case, look to just a small area rug under the sub and decoupler, or even better, go to Kohl's or Walmart and get the non-slip rubber mat they put under rugs so they don't slip around.
