need a surround sound system

i got a hdtv last month and now i need a good surround system nothing fancy just a starter no higher than 300$ is there any you guys know or recommend

For a bit more you can get a starter system that will let you take advantage of lossless audio. Well worth it in my opinion. If not, no big deal. Just make sure you get a system that will let you upgrade the receiver in the future.

You can get the RM6750 package in my sig below for speakers to start out if you're looking for a quick fix. Otherwise, I'd suggest saving for better speakers and piece it together. Start with the Onkyo 606 or similar receiver and then I would suggest demoing some higher end speakers (in the thousands range) and then looking for some cheaper speakers that sound just as good as them. Later, finish your system with a subwoofer, center channel, surrounds, and maybe even back surrounds.

$300 will get you a HTiB, but just buy a receiver with the $300 & save for the speakers. Start off with the front stage, or even just a center & or the L/R fronts. You will be happier in the long run.
