Default Help me pick out a hometheater surround system.

I have a Samsung 52 in. lcd 850 series. I also have a blu ray player.

I want a 7.1 hd surround sound. Any suggestions on a receiver and speakers?

Money is not really important to me, but I want to be reasonable?

One man's "reasonable" is another man's fortune.

Is $5,000 out of the ballpark?

I would say $5,000 is pretty reasonable.

I would spend:

AVR (~$700): Denon, Pioneer, HK, Yamaha, etc...
Speakers (~3600): AV123, Paradigm, Definitive Technology, Salk, Monitor Audio, etc..
Sub (~700): SVS, AV123, HSU, Outlaw, Epik, eD, etc..

Where are you located? Are there any Paradigm dealers in driving range of you?

I would suggest:
Pair of Paradigm Monitor 11's ($750 each)
Paradigm CC-290 ($500)
Paradigm ADP-180 X 4 (I think around $200 each maybe)
Then someone else can recommend a sub cause I don't want to get into it.

Receiver:
Pioneer Elite SC-05 or SC-07 if you can find one
or
Yamaha RX-V3800 ($1500)

Total should be $4300 without tax and a sub, but one heck of a setup!

And if you buy the Paradigms from a local dealer you can usually take a few hundred off the price because they'll most likely be willing to work with you

also with this setup you can spend like $400-$500 on a sub and then the rest on cables and etc.

Oh wow your pretty close to where our house is. We have a house in Irwin. Anyways, I just looked it up on their website: www.paradigm.com and they have a dealer in Johnson City. You should definitely go audition some Paradigm speakers.

heres the info:

Speakers really come down to personal taste. Klipsch are great speakers, but I've never been a fan of the brightness of horn tweeters. They seem to provoke the love 'em or hate 'em response on the forums.

No problem.

Depends on which models? I have Klipsch speakers and love them but if I had the chance to redo it, theres no doubt I would have gone with the Paradigm monitor series or studio series.

Well for you and your budget the Paradigm Monitor 11 setup or Studio 60 setup. And then for Klipsch I would go with either the Icon series (wf-35, wc-24, etc) or the Reference series (RF-63 and RF-83)

and nothing against Klipsch (cause I own them too) but I would highly recommend you take a look at Paradigm. You will not be sorry.
